Shio pan: a golden-brown, crescent-shaped Japanese bread that’s salty on the outside and buttery within. This simple yet delicious treat has been gaining popularity in Singapore since 2024, with more cafes and bakeries offering it in different flavours. Fan’s Cafe is one of them: the new Far East Plaza cafe sells fresh shio pan at wallet-friendly prices.

Opened in January 2025, Fan’s Cafe mainly offers shio pan and drinks. What’s interesting is that their shio pan comes in rotating flavours, which means you can expect something different each time you visit. Priced at $3, the Shiopan Original is a fixed item on the menu that’s said to be a steady seller.Â

At the time of writing, they have shio pan in Hamu ($4.20) and Kani ($3.90). The former comes with ham within, while the latter features crab meat. There’s also the Shiokupan Pork Floss ($3.60), which many Singaporeans can appreciate since pork floss in bread is a win in our books!

Besides shio pan, the Slice Yogurt Cake ($9) is another must-try; you get layers of matcha sponge cake and velvety smooth yoghurt cream, finished with a thick matcha cream for an earthy and bittersweet note.
For special occasions, get it as a whole cake, priced at $58 and $88 depending on size.

Coffee aficionados can get the Latte (from $5) or Cappucino (from $5), while tea lovers can give the popular Matcha Latte (from $5.50) a shot.
For easy access, Fan’s Cafe is located on the first floor of Far East Plaza, an easy three-minute walk from Orchard MRT Station.
