The Food Place reopens at Raffles City Shopping Centre
The office crowd’s favourite haunt at Raffles City has upgraded! The Food Place by Food Republic has reopened after a period of renovation, boasting a fresh lineup of Michelin-recognised brands, award-winning names, and returning local favourites.
Home to twenty food stalls, the food court features Michelin Bib Gourmand recipients Ju Xing Fish and Li Xin Twochew Fishball Noodles, the Hong Kong-famous cha chaan teng Mon Kee Cafe, and SMASH by BurgerLabo among others.

Our top pick here is Ju Xing Fish, the sauerkraut fish express concept by Ju Xing Home, a popular eatery from Hong Kong that has been awarded the Michelin Bib Gourmand for six consecutive years since 2018.
After tasting their Signature Sauerkraut Fish Soup with Crunchy Grass Carp ($13.80), we understood why this suan cai yu is a celebrity favourite: it was tangy-savoury without being overly cloying, and light while retaining all its umami goodness. It was packed full of ingredients such as enoki mushrooms, tofu, and slices of grass carp, which lent the dish a variety of textures.

Another entry on the Michelin Bib Gourmand list is Li Xin Twochew Fishball Noodles, where we enjoyed their outlet-exclusive Sambal Mushroom Meat Dumpling Noodle ($7.80). The combination of savoury meat dumplings, spicy mushrooms and crispy fishcake fritters was a definite winner in our books, and the thick noodles and signature sambal sauce worked together superbly.
A crowd-pleaser here that just arrived from Hong Kong is Mon Kee Cafe, serving up classic cha chaan teng dishes with a focus on their scrambled egg rice.
Their Char Siew Scrambled Egg Rice ($8.50) had a soft and silky scrambled egg that coated the rice alongside the sweet soy sauce. Combined with the char siew slices, each bite was creamy and soulful. You can also get their Silky HK Style Milk Tea ($3) to complement your meal.
If you’re a burger lover, try out SMASH by BurgerLabo, which is an offshoot of the popular gourmet burger joint. While they only sell smash burgers here, prices start from an affordable $9.80 for a Single SMASH Burger. Pair it with the Salted Fries ($5.80) for a hearty meal.
The food court also features familiar favourites such as Kam’s Roast Express, a casual spinoff of one-Michelin-starred Kam’s Roast from Hong Kong. Try their Five Treasure Rice ($17.90) to sample their roast meats, which include their Roast Duck, Soya Chicken, BBQ Pork, Red Sausage, and Salted Egg.
We particularly enjoyed the Char Kway Teow with Big Prawn ($12.90) from Penang Jiak, especially the inclusion of three enormous prawns, cockles, crunchy pork lard, and most importantly, wok hei-infused kway teow.
Conveniently located in the heart of the city, right above City Hall MRT and Esplanade MRT stations, The Food Place is a new foodie hotspot that you won’t want to miss.
