Ferrero Rocher pralines have a special place in my heart. Growing up, those golden trays would make a regular appearance at Chinese New Year and Christmas gatherings, so I’ve always associated these hazelnut-filled treats with the festive season. So when I heard about the brand’s latest launch—Ferrero Rocher chocolate bars—I knew I had to be among the first to try them.

These new bars are available in two flavours: Dark 70% Cocoa Hazelnut and Milk Hazelnut. Each bar retails for $6.50.

The former features 70% dark chocolate with a hazelnut and cocoa filling, while the latter uses milk chocolate for a sweeter, creamier profile.

If you prefer something less sweet, you won’t go wrong with the dark version.

We found the sweetness level of the dark chocolate just right, nicely balancing the fragrant hazelnut bits and slightly sweeter cocoa centre. The chocolate bar also had a satisfying snap.

If you’re in the mood for something more indulgent, get the milk chocolate bar instead.

This chocolate bar tasted closest to the Ferrero Rocher treats I remember from my childhood. The chocolate was creamy and silky, with crunchy bits of hazelnut adding texture.

That said, if I had to pick one, I’d still go for the OG Ferrero Rocher balls. I preferred having a whole hazelnut in each piece, as it offered a better contrast against the smooth milk chocolate.

The Ferrero Rocher bars are available across major supermarkets islandwide, including NTUC FairPrice, Cold Storage, Giant, and Sheng Siong.
