1. Hikiniku to Come

If you’ve been following Japanese food trends, you’ll know that Hikiniku to Come (挽肉と米) has been one of the most hyped restaurants in Tokyo for years—with queues that start before the restaurant even opens. The cult-favourite charcoal-grilled hamburg chain has finally made its Singapore debut at VivoCity, and the hype is fully warranted.

The concept is refreshingly simple: just one set meal ($27.90++) featuring three 90g patties made from 100% beef, freshly ground in-store and grilled over binchotan charcoal. The patties arrive one by one, served sizzling hot so you can eat them at their absolute peak. They come alongside unlimited rice, miso soup, ponzu, grated daikon, pickles, and a raw egg to customise your experience.

2. Obongzip The Star Vista

The long queues at Obongzip‘s Tanjong Pagar outlet haven’t slowed down since it opened in January 2026—and now the Korea-famous K-BBQ chain is expanding west with a new outlet at The Star Vista. If you’ve been putting off the trip to the CBD, this one’s for you.

For the uninitiated, Obongzip is a household name in Korea, with over 300 outlets across the country. It first turned heads in Singapore for its XL Grilled Tteok ($28): a palm-sized Korean rice cake that’s crispy on the outside, soft and chewy within, dusted with injeolmi powder and served with honey dip. Beyond the viral tteok, the restaurant is well-loved for its sharing platters, including the Obongzip Special ($108++), which brings together Fire-Grilled Spicy Octopus, Bossam Pork, and Spicy Buckwheat Noodles with free-flow banchan. You can even choose your spice level: Mild, Hot, or Extra Hot.

Easties, rejoice: Casa Vostra has finally come to you. Chef Antonio Miscellaneo’s wildly popular Italian restaurant—which first opened at Raffles City in 2024 to instant queues and hasn’t slowed down since—has opened its third Singapore outlet at Tampines Mall.

The Tampines outpost brings all the signatures you know and love: Newpolitan Red, Newpolitan White, and Doublecrunch pizzas, as well as crowd-pleasing pastas like the Mamma’s Aglio e Olio ($15++) and the Gamberi ($28++) topped with Argentinian prawns. What makes this outlet especially exciting is an exclusive collaboration with Chef Luciano Monosilio: Rome-based and widely regarded as Italy’s ‘King of Carbonara’. You can try his signature Chef Luciano’s Carbonara Spaghetti ($21++), made with guanciale, pecorino, egg yolk, and spaghetti here. Six outlet-exclusive dishes round out the new menu, too.

4. JIHO Hanbang Samgyetang SBCD

JIHO Hanbang Samgyetang SBCD is a Korea-famous samgyetang chain founded in 1991. The brand now boasts over 80 outlets across Korea, Sydney, and Shanghai, and has most recently made its Singapore debut at 18 Cross Street in Chinatown, partnering with local Korean brand SBCD.

JIHO’s claim to fame is its approach to samgyetang (ginseng chicken soup) rooted in hanbang, the centuries-old Korean practice of using natural herbal remedies. The result is a bowl that’s rich in flavour and deeply comforting. The menu also goes beyond soup: starters, including the Squid & Minari Salad ($29.80++), set the tone nicely, with a punchy sweet-spicy-tangy dressing over fresh vegetables, squid, and avocado. For a break from the usual K-BBQ crowd, this one’s worth checking out.

Singapore’s first halal-certified Japanese takeaway kiosk is levelling up. NiKU iKU—the sister brand to WOK HEY whose name loosely translates to “Shall we go for meat?” in Japanese—has just opened its first-ever dine-in outlet at Our Tampines Hub, marking a new chapter for the brand.

Known for making Japanese grill-inspired meals accessible and wallet-friendly, NiKU iKU serves freshly prepared yakiniku (grilled) and nitsuke (simmered) dishes from just $7.80 in its signature bento format. Proteins including unagi, beef, salmon, and chicken are cooked à la minute—grilled right to your order at a live show kitchen. A standout is the brand’s premium Gobo rice, a signature recipe with burdock root cooked directly into the rice for subtle earthiness. You can also customise your iKU-ben with add-ons such as tamagoyaki, onsen egg, and pumpkin.

6. Nai Nai Flavor

Another Chinese restaurant? Hear us out. Nai Nai Flavor isn’t your typical Sichuan or Hunan spot; it specialises in Hangzhou cuisine (hang bang cai, 杭帮菜), a regional style of cooking that prioritises lighter, more balanced flavours through techniques like stir-frying, stewing, and steaming. The restaurant, which has multiple locations across Hangzhou, has made its first-ever overseas debut at i12 Katong.

The standout dish is the Dongpo Pork ($8.80+): a beautiful slab of braised pork belly with deep notes of soy sauce, rice wine, and brown sugar, boasting tender meat and a near half-and-half meat-to-fat ratio. Also worth ordering is the Youbu Chicken Rice Cake ($11.80+), a regional speciality made using a 1,300-year-old technique—crispy and airy on the outside, with layers of egg and chive within.

Fans of Raising Cane’s will want to make a beeline for Planet Melmac Chick ‘N Chips on Haji Lane. The cosmic-themed American-style fried chicken joint has already been drawing rave reviews since it opened, with many comparing it closely to the beloved US chain that has yet to arrive in Singapore.

Meals come in three sizes: Solo Orbit ($9.90), Double Orbit ($13.50), and Galactic Feast ($15.90), each featuring one, two, or three pieces of fried chicken served with fries or rice and a drink. The chicken is said to be wonderfully crispy and juicy with addictive seasoning—even better in the spicy version. The sauces are a highlight too, especially the Cheesy Cosmos and the Milky Way Garlic, a creamy garlic aioli. Going in a group? Gelato fans in the CBD, your prayers have been answered. The new spot is housed in a restored three-storey building dating back to the 1920s, with plenty of indoor seating. All 16 flavours are freshly churned in-house daily, with the Sicilian Pistachio Gelato ($6.80) and Turkish Hazelnut Gelato ($5.80) leading the way as bestsellers.
