Best new restaurants and cafes in August 2026
August is shaping up to be a solid month for openings, including a POP MART-themed bakery, Singapore’s first restaurant dedicated entirely to Jeju pork tonkatsu, and a $22.90++ conveyor-belt hotpot buffet with over 100 dishes. Here’s our guide to the best new restaurants and cafes in Singapore in August 2026.
Table of Contents
1. Chick-fil-A @ Millenia Walk

Chick-fil-A‘s Bugis+ opening was one of the most hyped fast food launches in recent memory, and now the brand has brought its second Singapore outlet to Millenia Walk, opening on 30 July 2026. Chick-fil-A has more than 3,000 restaurants globally and is especially beloved in its home country, the United States.
The classic order here is the Chick-fil-A Chicken Sandwich (price TBD), made with a whole, boneless chicken breast pressure-cooked in refined peanut oil and served on two toasted buns with dill pickles—decent, though not the juiciest rendition around. For those who like heat, there’s the Spicy Deluxe Sandwich (price TBD), topped with lettuce, tomato, and pepper jack cheese. The standout, though, is the Chick-fil-A Nuggets (price TBD), made with real, whole-muscle chicken meat that’s crispy outside and juicy within, best paired with the brand’s six house sauces.

Whuchu Korean Dining Restaurant has opened at UE Square, and it’s built entirely around ssam rather than the usual K-BBQ format. By day, it runs a wellness-focused ssam-bap lunch; by night, it shifts into full Korean BBQ with an attached beer garden. The centrepiece is a Himalayan salt ageing room built right into the dining area, one of the first setups of its kind at a Korean restaurant here.
Jeotgal, or fermented salted seafood, takes the spotlight, with options such as salted pollock roe, spicy fermented oysters, and spicy salted squid meant to be tucked into wrap vegetables flown in from Korea. The Ssam-Bap Set ($36++ per person, min. two diners) comes with a choice of mains such as Soy Garlic Beef Bulgogi or Spicy Chicken Galbi, plus pot rice, soup, and a full wrap spread. At dinner, the headline cut is the Aged Bone-In Pork Belly ($78++, 600g), alongside LA Galbi ($68++, 350g) and Wagyu Beef Bulgogi ($58++, 300g).

7. BlackTree

BlackTree (黑树), the viral Chinese chain known for its Thai milk tea creations, has landed its first overseas outlet in Singapore at 313@somerset, marking its debut outside China. Founded in 2025, the brand has already expanded rapidly across Shanghai, Beijing, Shenzhen, and other major Chinese cities, known for its playful drinks topped with intricate foam designs.
For its Singapore launch, BlackTree has collaborated with Shanghai-based matcha cafe Matcha Wang on the Lily Lamb Special Matcha No.1 ($7.90), finished with a thick matcha cheese foam and hand-drawn sheep design—the matcha was earthy but a touch bland on its own. The brand’s Thai milk tea creations fare better, with the 400 Times Cheese Milk Thai Tea ($6.90) standing out for its whipped coffee foam that adds a caramel-like depth, and the Milky Cat Cheese Milk Thai Tea ($6.90) offering a cute cat-shaped cheese foam topping, though it leans a little mild and milky.

Tonkatsu fans can now enjoy a more premium take on the Japanese fried cutlet at Katsu by Kyu, a new speciality restaurant at OUE Downtown 2 and the first in Singapore to focus exclusively on Jeju pork. The cutlets go through a 10-day dry-ageing process and are finished over rice straw charcoal for a subtle smoky aroma, then coated in crisp panko and fried to order.
Diners can choose from three cuts of pork tonkatsu: Central Cut Premium Loin ($38++), Loin ($32++), and Tenderloin ($30++), each served with rice freshly milled from Incheon, Korea. For those after more variety, there are also combination sets such as the Tenderloin and Kadaif Prawn ($32++) and Tenderloin and Oyster ($30++).

A Singapore-exclusive to try is the Twinkle Twinkle Tangy Coconut Mousse ($18++), featuring a chocolate miniature of the character in passionfruit boba and pineapple filling, encased in a chocolate coconut-shell mousse—cute, though the elements can feel a little disparate. The PUCKY Xiao Long Bao Dessert ($18++) is a lighter option, pairing a soy milk panna cotta shaped like the character with ice cream and biscuit stick “chopsticks.” For drinks, there’s the Twinkle Twinkle Mango Sago ($12++) and the punchy, sour Yuzu Buddy ($12++).
