Bakery M has mochi buns at Marina One
Whether you’re a mochi dessert lover or just a fan of good bread, Bakery M is a must-visit spot that will earn top place on your list of bakeries this year. Best known for their stretchy mochi buns at wallet-friendly prices, the bakery first made waves at Wisma Atria in 2022. Now, CBD folks can get in on the action too, with a new outlet at Marina One.

The bread here is baked fresh every morning, and most of the selection is on display ready for sale by 9am. This makes for a great pitstop for those who want to grab a quick bite before heading to work!
Fans of mochi should make a beeline for the Peanut Butter Mochi ($2), which sees house-made mochi and peanut butter spread tucked between fluffy bread.Â
A collective favourite was the Biscoff Caramel Mochi ($2.30), which often sells out before the day ends. This bun features a creamy Biscoff spread paired with the same chewy mochi as the Peanut Butter Mochi. Crunchy Biscoff crumbs were lightly sprinkled atop the bread, adding more texture to each bite.
Another standout for us was the Crunchy Salted Polo Bun x Mochi ($1.80), which combines chewy mochi with a crisp, golden bolo bun. We recommend this if you appreciate sweet-salty flavours!Â
The signature Mentaiko Japan ($3) wasn’t available during our visit, so we went for the Shio Pan ($2) instead, another crowd favourite at the bakery. At first glance, the bread looked pretty unassuming, but don’t let its appearance fool you. The butter was not too overpowering, and even though the bread had been sitting out for a while, the bottom retained its satisfying crunch.

Other must-tries include the Curry Potato and Chicken Cheese ($2.30), a curry potato bun with a thin layer of baked cheese on top for a slight crunch, and the Tamago Mayonezu Ham ($2.20), which comprises ham on soft bread, topped with a generous serving of creamy egg mayo.
Those looking for classics can try the Premium Sausage ($2.20), Japanese Tuna Mayo ($2.10), or the Ham and Cheese ($2.10). The latter sees fluffy bread enveloped in gooey melted cheese.
When you’re at Marine One, Bakery M is hard to miss: the cafe is adorned with bright yellow walls and banners. Their newest outlet has eight dine-in seats too!
For easy access, the bakery is located right outside Shenton Way MRT Station Exit 5.
