10 Best Kunafa Desserts To Try—Viral Pistachio Chocolate, Kunafa Waffles And More

Best kunafa desserts in Singapore

Kunafa—also known as kunefe, kunafeh, and kanafeh—has taken over social media over the past couple of years, with local and international brands coming up with unique renditions of the dessert. From the viral Dubai kunafa chocolate bars to kunafa-flavoured gelato, we’ve compiled a list of the best kunafa desserts to try in Singapore!

Traditionally, kunafa is made with crispy kataifi pastry (shredded filo dough) that’s layered with cheese and soaked in a sweet syrup, then topped with crushed pistachios. If you’re looking for more traditional options, you can check out our list of the best baklava and kunefe in Singapore instead.

1. FIX Dessert Chocolatier

FIX Dessert Chocolatier shot to internet fame last year for their loaded chocolate bars. The Dubai brand’s most popular flavour is Can’t Get Knafeh of It-Hero, which retails for $65 for a 200g bar at local candy store SGFR. You get creamy milk chocolate encasing a generous amount of pistachio paste and crispy kunafa pastry. Besides FIX, you’ll also find alternative brands selling the kunafa-inspired chocolate bar on the SGFR site!

2. Nova Bakehouse

If the FIX chocolate bars are out of your budget, consider a more affordable alternative: Nova Bakehouse. Based in Singapore, the online bakery’s Pistachio Kunafe Chocolate bar goes for just $25, which is $40 cheaper than the original Dubai version. This chocolate bar comprises crunchy filo pastry with sweet pistachio paste, surrounded by a milk chocolate exterior. We tried this rendition and found that the nutty flavour was rather mild, so pistachio fans might be disappointed with it.

There also a Pistachio Cream Cheese ($25) flavour, which incorporates tangy cream cheese in the mix!

It’s rich and sweet, with a lovely crunch from the shredded filo pastry. You can also find more regular martabak manis flavours here, including Cheesy Corn and Choco Rice, priced at $7.50 each.
