Over-the-top customisable cakes by Bob The Baker Boy
With social gathering restrictions tightening up once again, birthday celebrations are being called off left, right, and centre. Bob The Baker Boy is known for their over-the-top cakes, highly apt for this time where birthdays or celebrations might feel less festive than usual.
Highly customisable, these cakes can be crafted to suit many themes. If the birthday boy or girl is a huge fan of ramen, there’s their Gravity Defying Ramen Noodle Cake (from $228) that looks like it came out from a Studio Ghibli film. The cake is brightly coloured and fully decked with the usual ramen toppings—marinated chashu slices, lava ramen egg, bamboo shoots, seaweed, and even finely chopped spring onions.
Bob The Baker Boy also offers a choice of nine cake flavours for most of their cakes, and prides them to be lower in sugar than regular customised cakes. The flavours are pretty unique, namely Autumn Milk Chocolate Passionfruit Cake, Black Velvet Cake With Cream Cheese, Sea Salt Caramel Chocolate Cake, and a classic Light Japanese Strawberry Shortcake.
There’s even interactive ones such as their Drinkable Bubble Milk Tea Cake (from $198). Bewilder or punish your BBT-addict friend who just can’t live a day without the drink. Stick a straw in the middle of this special cake and have them slurp up real milk tea, or even Milo, as you sing them ‘Happy Birthday’!
Another interactive option that would keep your Asian parents grinning from ear to ear is to add $40 for a money-pulling surprise. This option is available for all sizes except most two-tiered and three-tiered cakes.
For a mini party of two, opt for their Korean bento cakes collection instead. There are nine different designs to choose from, each priced at $39.90. The designs are adorably kitschy, just like the ones you’d see on your IG feed.
With over 500 cake designs offered on the website, Bob The Baker Boy also has minimalists covered with their Classic Cakes. We highly recommend the Signature 55% Belgian Chocolate Cake (from $59.90). Our colleagues swear by its moist cake layers that are flanked by rich and bittersweet chocolate frosting.
If you’re just looking for some sweet treats to satisfy a sweet tooth, there are also mini tarts from $25.90, cupcakes by the dozen from $38, as well as fudgy brownies from $29.90.
Bob The Baker Boy truly exceeded our expectations with their wide range of flavours and beautifully decorated cakes. From fancy schmancy larger-than-life cakes to bite-sized baked goodies, there are many options to choose from for any occasion.
Cake delivery is priced from $7.90 if you spend below $150. There’s also free island-wide delivery for orders above $150!
