Burger King launches new Quarter Chicken Leg

Few things are more satisfying than sinking your teeth into a piece of juicy fried chicken. Yet, finding one that meets expectations is not always easy. That is where Burger King steps in with its latest seasonal release, the Quarter Chicken Leg, which offers a premium take on classic fried chicken.Â

Touted to be built around juicy premium meat, golden crispy skin, and bold layers of spice, we put this new menu drop to the test to see if it lives up to its claims.

The first thing that struck us was the size of each chicken leg. At just $8.80 per piece, the Quarter Chicken Leg was generously portioned and substantial enough to enjoy on its own. We managed to get plenty of meat with each bite, with juices oozing out as we worked our way through it.Â

What made the chicken extra enjoyable for us was the delicate crispiness of the skin. Unlike many fried chicken options that end up quite batter-heavy, the Quarter Chicken Leg’s specially developed, ultra-thin crust offered a refreshing contrast. We liked how it kept the dish on the lighter side, while still retaining that all-important crunch factor.

Beyond the size of the chicken leg and the quality of the skin, we’re happy to report that it delivers on the flavour front as well. The meat is marinated in capsicum and red chilli, then finished with black and white pepper. Expect a slow-building heat that lingers on the palate—somewhere between xiao la and zhong la in your average mala xiang guo—while still allowing the chicken’s natural flavor to shine through.

To cool down the heat, you can opt for the Quarter Chicken Leg Value Meal, which comes with medium fries and a small soft drink for $9.95. If you’re feeling extra hungry, go for their 2pc ($16.90) and 5pc ($40.90) bundles. Both ala carte and meal options are available for dine-in and pickup, as well as via the Grab app.Â
