Cafe Usagi Tokyo is a new matcha cafe in Suntec City

Matcha fans, this one’s for you━there’s a new matcha speciality cafe in town! Homegrown brand Cafe Usagi Tokyo has just opened at Suntec City, adding to the list of Japanese eateries in the mall, with an upcoming second location that’s slated to open at 111 Somerset next month.

The star of the show is Cafe Usagi Tokyo’s Signature Mochi Ice Cream ($6), which comes filled with either vanilla or matcha ice cream. We’ve previously seen this trendy dessert at Vanda Botanical Desserts, so add this new cafe to your list if you’re a fan. Should you not like vanilla or matcha, get any of their other ice cream flavours in a mochi skin with just a $1 top-up.

Aside from the mochi ice cream, you can also get scoops of Japanese Flavored Hand Crafted Ice Cream here. These ice creams are house-made by the cafe’s own Japanese chef using premium ingredients such as high-quality Hokkaido milk, with flavours including Hokkaido Milk & Vanilla, Honkaku Uji Matcha, Rich Chocolate and more.
A single scoop of ice cream is priced at $5, while a double scoop goes for $8. There is a $0.50 top-up for premium flavours such as Lavender Hojicha and White Chocolate Macadamia. These can be paired with Original Waffle ($6.50), drizzled with your choice of maple syrup or kuromitsu, which is Japanese sugar syrup made with black sugar.

For a simpler, but no less indulgent treat, order yourself a USAGI Strawberry Mochi ($6.90), where a whole strawberry is wrapped with azuki paste and mochi skin.

On the drinks front, they have the usual Matcha ($5.50) and other lattes such as Hojicha Latte ($6.80). But their tea selection will make tea lovers swoon, with pots including Sencha and Genmaicha priced at $7.50. Otherwise, opt for their blends such as Rose Sencha and Lavender Hojicha Pot, which go for $7.90 a pot.
