Chick-fil-A Is Coming To SG From 26 to 28 June—Is It Worth The Queue?

Chick-fil-A is coming to Esplanade from 26 to 28 June

Several months ago, a Redditor shared images on r/singapore that appeared to feature packaging from American fast-food brand Chick-fil-A. That, of course, got the rumour mill spinning with the idea that the largest and arguably most beloved chicken sandwich chain in the US may just be coming to Singapore.

Well, that could’ve been a guerilla marketing tactic after all, as Chick-fil-A is indeed coming to Singapore for a pop-up event, from 26 to 28 June 2024 at Esplanade Mall. The pop-up will open on the aforementioned days from 11am to 2pm, and 3pm to 7pm.

While dine-in reservations are currently full, you can still drop by to takeaway from 11am on all three days. Do note that this is limited to the first 200 patrons, on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Here’s how it works: simply head down to the pop-up location to obtain your takeaway set, which comes with an Original Chick-fil-A Chicken Sandwich, Waffle Potato Fries, and a drink: Coca-Cola Classic, Coca-Cola Zero, or bottled water. You’re encouraged to donate to Community Chest on-site, and Chick-fil-A will match your donation dollar for dollar. We foresee there’ll be a queue, so make sure you head down earlier.

Otherwise, if you’re one of the lucky folks who managed to snag a dine-in seat online, you’d have paid $10 for a ticket, which gets you the same set.

At the three-day pop-up, you can expect to try their famous chicken sandwich, starring a whole, boneless chicken breast that’s seasoned with a secret mix of spices, and then pressure-cooked in refined peanut oil. It’s complete with dill pickles and two slabs of toasted buns.

NGL, my first impression of the burger was that it looked rather small and flat when taken out of its packaging.

Thankfully, biting into the sandwich proved otherwise. The chicken patty was well-seasoned, though on the saltier side. Strangely enough, its seasoning tasted oddly similar to KFC’s Original Recipe Chicken! Yet, I found the meat within superior: it was very tender and juicy despite being the breast cut, which often leans dry if not cooked well.

Surprisingly, the burger wasn’t overly greasy, too. Paired with the pickles, which added a refreshing tang, and the sweet buttered buns, this sandwich was delicious on its own, without any sauce.

Should you wish to amp up your burger-tasting experience, I’d recommend pairing it with Chick-fil-A’s sauces: Garden Herb Ranch, Sweet & Spicy Sriracha, Honey Mustard, and Chick-fil-A. Out of the four, my favourite was the original Chick-fil-A sauce for its sweet, savoury, and tangy flavour.

You also get a side of Waffle Potato Fries, sprinkled with sea salt. These skin-on potato fries were nothing much to shout about; enjoy them while they’re hot or they turn soggy fast.

You can also dip your fries into one of the sauces for an extra boost of flavour!

Takeaway orders start at 11am, though I foresee there to be a line forming way earlier than that, judging by just how popular the chain is. I would consider joining the queue, only if it doesn’t stretch beyond an hour, as the chicken sandwich and sauces were more delicious than I’d expected.

There’s no confirmation if the fast food joint will set up a permanent shop in Singapore, so if you’d like to get a taste first-hand, be sure to visit the pop-up before it’s too late.
