1. Da Cheng Lok Lok

Da Cheng Lok Lok is my go-to for a late-night lok lok experience in JB. Located right outside KSL City Mall, the ordering process here is straightforward. Simply bring your favourite meats, vegetables, and seafood skewers to the cashier, take a seat, and wait for your number to be called. Options here are limitless, with popular picks including hotdog, meatballs, mantou and more. One skewer costs RM1.10, about a third of the price you pay back home. Each skewer is deep-fried, and you can pair them alongside the free-flow sauces, including a Thai sweet sauce and their house-made extra-spicy chilli sauce.

To wash down the grease, get a cup of Susu Kambing Biasa (RM5), AKA goat milk. Alternatively, they have classics such as Milo (RM2.60) and Teh (RM1.80) as well.

The classic Shrimp Dumplings (RM7+) feature plump shrimps stuffed in a thin dumpling skin. A must-try here is the Kataifi Mango Shrimp (RM7.80+), which sees thin, noodle-like strips of filo pastry encasing sweet mango cubes and bouncy prawns. Since the dim sum eatery gets pretty crowded during peak hours, we recommend heading down earlier to secure a spot!

Don’t be intimidated by the name, though, as this full-bodied, delicious tea boasts a floral fragrance with a slightly astringent aftertaste.
