Joy Luck Teahouse Opens At Causeway Point With Michelin-Approved Wonton Mee And Egg Tarts

12th August 2025

Joy Luck Teahouse opens at Causeway Point

We have our fair share of Hong Kong cafes in Singapore with nostalgic charm, and one of the more familiar names is Joy Luck Teahouse, known for its crispy and cookie-style egg tarts. The Bugis Junction outlet operates as a grab-and-go kiosk, but the newly opened branch at Causeway Point offers dine-in seats for you to enjoy a proper cha chaan teng experience.

The menu has something to offer no matter when you visit—think congee and egg tarts for a comforting brekkie, or wonton noodles for a hearty lunch or dinner.

Starting with their famous egg tarts, there are five variations available: Flaky Egg Tart ($2.60), Cookie Egg Tart ($2.40), Pandan Cookies Egg Tart ($2.60), Lychee Cookies Egg Tart ($2.60), and 22K Gold Flakes ($6.20)

For the uninitiated, crispy egg tarts are typified by a flaky, light, and airy texture, whereas cookie egg tarts are crumbly and denser.

If egg tarts aren’t your cup of tea, opt for the bolo buns instead. Besides the Original Bolo Bun ($2.50), there are three other flavoured options: Chicken Char Siew Bolo Bun ($3.30), Butter with Pineapple Bolo Bun ($3.30), and Luncheon Meat Bolo Bun ($3.30).

We really enjoyed pairing our pastries with the fragrant HK Milk Tea (from $2.80), which boasted a strong tea flavour with a smooth milky finish.

Another highlight that’s exclusive to the Causeway Point outlet is the debut of Mak Man Kee Wonton Noodles, a Michelin-approved name with over 70 years of history.

Try the signature HK Wanton Noodles-Mak Man Kee with Prawn Wontons ($9.80), available in both dry and soup versions. A bowl comes with thin, springy noodles, plump prawn wonton, and some veggies.

Our favourite, though, was the Clear Beef Soup Noodles ($13.80), consisting of kway teow, slow-cooked beef tendons, and soft radish slices submerged in clear, flavourful broth.
