Kopitiam Corner has opened at Dakota Crescent
Most of us are familiar with Kopitiam, the food court chain that can be found in countless shopping malls across Singapore. More recently, the brand has been expanding into heartland coffeeshops under the name Kopitiam Corner, and Dakota Crescent is its latest destination.
There are a total of six stalls at this new Kopitiam Corner, consisting mostly of popular, established food brands. In addition to the good eats, the coffeeshop sports a clean, modern look, and is fairly spacious and well-ventilated.
If you’re a fan of mala xiang guo, you’ll be glad to know that Ri Ri Hong Ma La Xiang Guo is among the coffeeshop’s ranks. It’s one of the most popular and renowned stalls at the legendary People’s Park Food Centre, and for good reason—their Xiang Guo (from $6) and Mala Soup ($6) are gloriously piquant and numbing, and the moreish ingredients you can add to them are good, too.
Another prominent brand is King Grouper Fish Soup, which serves up stellar fish-based dishes at its 20 outlets. Their fish comes from their own farm in Changi, known for producing high-quality giant groupers. Must-try dishes here include the Red Grouper Fish Soup ($8.50), which has wonderfully fresh slices of red grouper in a fragrant and savoury soup, and the more wallet-friendly Lala Bee Hoon Soup ($3).
And then there’s Popular Korean & Japanese Cuisine which, as its name suggests, offers both Korean and Japanese dishes, but at affordable prices. These include favourites such as the Hotplate Pork Set ($6.50) and Mentaiko Teriyaki Chicken Don ($8.80).
The remaining stalls are KNS Indian Muslim Food, Ze Ji Fishball Noodle, and Rice Garden. For those who live in the area, this is fantastic news indeed.
