13 Min Jiang Kueh Stalls For Old-School Peanut Pancake And More From $0.80

Best min jiang kueh stalls in Singapore

Google “min jiang kueh in Singapore”, and you will find many netizens branding the same few stalls as “the best pancake stall”. I have my favourite stall, which I think serves as the number one min jiang kueh in Singapore, but being a sucker for all things peanut, it’s hardly possible for me to stay loyal to that one stall.

Whenever I catch a whiff of the fragrant peanut pancake, I’ll be on my way to getting one. If you are like me, here are some places where you can satisfy that craving for min jiang kueh!

1. Granny’s Pancake

Granny’s Pancake has multiple outlets across the island, including Ghim Moh Market & Food Centre, Bendemeer Market, and Hong Lim Food Centre is one of the many must-visit stalls when you are at Ghim Moh Market & Food Centre. In the simple stall, there are only four varieties to choose from—Peanut ($1.20), Coconut ($1.20), Red Bean ($1.20), and Peanut + Peanut Butter ($1.40). With the unceasing flow of customers, fresh batches of pancakes are whipped out frequently so you can expect to get them steaming hot most times!

2. Tanglin Halt Original Peanut Pancake

This is one of my personal favourites. Found in Tanglin Halt Market, Tanglin Halt Original Peanut Pancake is one of the most old-school pancake stalls around that are still selling their Peanut Pancake at $0.90 per piece. Served in rectangular pieces, their thick and chewy min jiang kueh comes filled with crushed peanuts and sugar. Be prepared to get your hands dirty with the fillings spilling out with every bite! They also have more interesting fillings such as Black Sesame Peanut ($1.30) and Yam Paste ($1.30) if you prefer something different. Head down to the stall early as they close at 11:30am and are known to sell everything way before that.

3. The Pantree

For those who prefer crispy pancakes over thick and chewy ones, hit up The Pantree. While their classic Peanut Pancake ($2.80) is their best-seller, a wide variety of other fillings can also be found at this cafe. If you’re looking for something sweet to munch on, try their pancake with Nutella ($3) or Cream Corn ($2.80). Otherwise, savoury options such as Luncheon Meat & Cheese ($3.80) or Chicken Floss & Egg ($4.80) will make satisfying snacks!

4. Munchi Pancakes

If you’re a diehard min jiang kueh enthusiast, you’ll know of Munchi Pancakes’ colourful pancakes. Available in three different flavours, which come with traditional fillings such as Peanut ($1.80), Red Bean ($1.80), Coconut ($1.80), and Black Sesame ($2.20). Among the younger crowd, they are also popular for their many other unique fillings including Thai Milk Tea ($2.20) and Matcha ($2.20)!

Do note that the Yishun stall is currently closed for renovations, but you can visit the brand’s other outlets, including Our Tampines HubSenja Hawker Centre, Anchorvale Village Hawker Centre and more.

6. Ah Long Pancake

For those craving something savoury, Ah Long Pancake is where you can find some of the most interesting min jiang kueh flavours. I was taken aback by their savoury options such as Sambal Chilli + Carrot + Egg ($2.20) and Caipu + Carrot + Egg ($2.20). The last time I was there, I went for the less adventurous Corn + Peanut + Egg ($2.20) and was wowed by both the portion as well as the delicious combination of the chewy pancake and its crispy exterior!

7. Belinda’s Traditional Pancake

Belinda’s Traditional Pancake serves their min jiang kueh differently from most stalls. Here, they are known for their thin and crispy pancakes that come in a cone shape, similar to a Japanese crepe. These cone-shaped pancakes are priced at $1.50 each, with fillings such as peanut, red bean, coconut, and chocolate lining the inside of the cone. You can also get fresh putu mayam for $2.20 here!

Go for classic fillings such as peanut, coconut, or red bean, all of which are priced at $1.20 per slice. You’ll also find drool-worthy flavours such as Peanut + Peanut Butter ($1.50), loaded with crushed peanuts and a hefty drizzle of peanut butter.

9. Bu Bu Gao Sheng

Another hidden gem of a find is Bu Bu Gao Sheng, an underrated hawker stall along Neil Road selling soft MJK with trendy fillings such as taro and black sesame. Their classic Crunchy Peanut Butter ($1.40), which stars a light pancake sandwiching the nutty spread, is another favourite. Other noteworthy flavours include Matcha ($1.60), Taro ($1.60), Choco Banana ($1.60), and Black Sesame ($1.40).

10. Pancake King

This stall’s bright yellow signboard, with the words “Pancake King” in bold and capitalised letters, will be hard to miss. When you take a closer look at their iconic signboard, you will also see the words “Money Back Guarantee”—you get your money back if you are not satisfied with their min jiang kueh. Do note that prices range between $1.50 to $2 per pancake, depending on the outlet you’re at. While you’re there, don’t miss out on the huge lineup of fresh bakes too, with crowd favourites such as Egg Tart ($2.20) and Carrot Cake ($3.50).

11. Aunty Oats Pancake

Aunty Oats Pancake is a humble stall at Old Airport Road Food Centre selling old-school pancakes, either in Cut Slice ($1.20) or in “folded” form. The former comes in two flavours, Peanut and Coconut, while the latter lets you pick from more, including Cheese ($1.40), Salted Bean ($1.40), and Coffee ($1.40). The min jiang kueh batter is made without eggs, making each slice super soft and fluffy. They’re also generous with the fillings!

BONUS: Irna’s Taste Food & Cakes

Image credit: Irna’s Taste Food & Cakes

I like to think of martabak manis as a more decadent and shiok-er version of min jiang kueh. Check out Irna’s Taste Food & Cakes, which specialises in martabak manis. They’ve got a unique Original Mix Pizza ($18), which features a thick pancake that’s glazed with butter, drenched in sweetened condensed milk, and sprinkled with a medley of toppings: shredded cheese, chocolate sprinkles, and peanut. Compared to min jiang kueh, the pancakes here are sweeter because of the condensed milk that they drizzle on top of it.
