Hot on the heels of Keming Bing Sat’s arrival in Singapore is the opening of Mon Kee Cafe, another Hong Kong-famous cha chaan teng chain! The new cafe will open here in early July at the food court of Raffles City Shopping Centre. They have four other outlets across Hong Kong, but this Singapore outlet will mark their first overseas foray.

Expect a slew of comforting Hong Kong dishes with the likes of scrambled egg and char siew rice, macaroni soup, bolo bun and toast, as well as HK milk tea. The chain is especially known for its scrambled eggs-centric dishes, made from premium Japanese eggs that are gently cooked to achieve that perfect level of silkiness.

Based on online reviews, must-orders include the hearty and rich Luncheon Meat and Macaroni in Thick Tomato Soup (price TBD), as well as the comforting Scrambled Eggs on Rice (price TBD), which you have to get with their smoky house-made char siew.

For something lighter, opt for the classic Toast with Condensed Milk (price TBD) or the sweet-savoury Corned Beef with Egg and Peanut Butter Sandwich (price TBD). The latter might furrow some eyebrows, but it’s one of Mon Kee’s most popular dishes, so definitely don’t knock it till you try it!

We will update this space once more information on Mon Kee’s opening is released!
