We love uncovering under-HDB cafe gems in Singapore, so we were stoked to find out about New Deli Bakes, a Tampines bakery that has recently moved from MacPherson. Located under a HDB block, the homegrown bakery offers freshly baked croissants and pastries from just $4.20, alongside a small drinks menu. It’s also run by a baker who used to work at Tiong Bahru Bakery, so you know the pastries will be legit!

Their signature French Butter Croissant ($4.50) is said to be perfectly flaky and buttery, pairing well with your morning coffee.

Alternatively, the Houjicha Kouign Amann ($5.60) is a worthy contender; this roasted green tea-spiked pastry comes with a caramelised finish.

Regulars love their Vanilla Kouign-amann ($5), too. Made with French butter and vanilla bean pods from Papua New Guinea, this bake is said to be crispy with a caramelised crust. revealing buttery and fragrant layers within.

If you prefer your pastries savoury rather than sweet, you would be happy to know they offer two such options: the Tomato, Pesto and Cheddar Croissant ($6) and the Rosemary, Garlic & Smoked Cheese Spiral ($5.20).

If you need your caffeine fix, coffee is well-priced here, starting at $4.50 for a cup of Americano. They also have Homemade Salted Caramel Latte (from $6.50), made with a house-made salted caramel syrup that isn’t too sweet, as well as Matcha (from $6.50) and Houjicha (from $6.50) lattes if you prefer tea. Opt for the iced versions at a $1 top-up.
