Kuala Lumpur‘s mall scene just got a little more crowded, but not without good reason. Ombak KLCC officially opened its doors on 21 August 2026, bringing a wave-inspired design to the KLCC precinct. The name itself is fitting, too, with “ombak” translating to “wave” in Malay.

Spanning seven floors, the mall will also house Galeri Petronas, which is relocating here from its original location at Suria KLCC. The art gallery will open in phases ahead of a full public launch by end-2027.

Ombak KLCC also boasts a rooftop garden and open-air plaza, giving visitors somewhere to hang out beyond the usual retail floors, along with direct underground access via Persiaran KLCC MRT Station on the Putrajaya Line.

Of the roughly 120 stores in the mall, 37 are dedicated to food and beverage. Eateries to look out for include Port Asam Pedas by Sang, which brings Malaysia’s beloved sour-spicy asam pedas to the mall in a casual dining format, as well as Minamo and Eonyang Chicken Noodle Soup for Japanese and Korean cuisine.

Coffee lovers are especially well catered to here, too. Kenangan Coffee, the international arm of Indonesia’s popular grab-and-go coffee chain Kopi Kenangan, brings its affordable coffee to the mall. There’s also Afloat Coffee Roaster, a Bukit Jalil micro-roastery run by husband-and-wife barista duo Jimmy Leong and Loo Choy Leng. They roast their beans on-site every week.

Cafe fans can look forward to Milk & Barley, a Malaysian bakery chain best known for its self-serve milk station, where customers pour their own fresh milk to pair with baked pastries, including pistachio and kunafa-flavoured croissant egg tarts.

Convenience is also part of the pitch here, with CU bringing its Korean-style convenience store concept into the mix, stocking Korean snacks and ready-to-eat meals.

Beyond the opening lineup, Ombak KLCC has bigger names to come, including HEYTEA, DONKAI, and Turkish dessert brand Zaitoun, which are expected to join later in the year.
