In what seems to be the latest casualty of Singapore’s F&B scene, popular restaurant chain Prive has closed all its outlets, marking its permanent exit from the weakening industry.

The restaurant group attributes its abrupt closure to a combination of industry market challenges and rising operational costs. Despite trying every option to preserve continuity of the business, no viable solutions could be found.Â

Prive had multiple outlets, most notably at Jewel Changi, Wheelock Place, and Botanic Gardens. Their first outlet opened in 2007 at Keppel Bay.Â
Quiet closures at Jewel Changi and 313 Somerset earlier this year signalled a turn for the worse, with their Paragon outlet taken over by popular US coffee chain Blue Bottle in July.Â

Its last bastions at Holland Village, Botanic Gardens, and Wheelock Place have fallen with the announcement of Prive’s closure on 1 September.
Prive will be handing over its Asian Civilisations Museum (ACM) outlet to Commonwealth Concepts, alongside their Chinese restaurant Empress, which is similarly located at the ACM. The outlet will be converted into a Baker & Cook outlet from 4 September 2025.

The restaurant was known for their upscale, family-friendly Western cafe fare, with plant-based options and alfresco dining concepts.Â

The closure of Prive comes on the heels of other big-name casualties this year. These include ever-popular Chinese hotpot chain Haidilao, which closed its flagship outlet at Clarke Quay on 31 August, Michelin-starred restaurants Alma by Juan Amador and Euphoria, which closed in August, and popular ramen brands Kanada-ya and Hokkaido Ramen Santouka.
The closures are not letting up, either. Les Mains, a bakery in Opera Estate, will close at the end of September, as well as heritage zi char restaurant Ka-Soh, Flourish Bakehouse, and Fluff Bakery. Do not be surprised if popular restaurants you thought were popular, bulletproof mainstays in the scene go bust in the upcoming months of 2025.Â
