VivoCity seems to be having a moment lately with new and interesting additions at the mall, including viral Japanese stew restaurant ENchanko Hotpot and Kameshi and famous chocolate chain DipnDip. Hot on their heels is Rollney Singapore, a popular Malaysian chain that specialises in Hungarian chimney cakes, AKA kurtos rolls.

Set to launch on the second floor of the mall, the new kid on the block has nine outlets across Malaysia and an impressive following of over 33,000 on their official Instagram page.

For the uninitiated, kurtos or kürtőskalács refers to the popular Hungarian chimney cake made with a sweet, yeasted dough.

It’s hand-wrapped around a cone-shaped baking spit and rolled in sugar before being baked, resulting in a caramelised, golden brown crust and fluffy dough within that’s similar to brioche.

For a classic taste, get the Kurtos ($3), served on its own or with cinnamon sugar. If you’d like something sweeter, zhng up your chimney cake with their popular Creamy Butterscotch sauce by topping up $0.50.

If you don’t have a sweet tooth, you can go for their Savoury Kurtos Rolls (price TBD) which are packed with fillings such as Hot Chilli Chicken Sausages and Tuna.
