We’re blessed with many great Chinese restaurants in Singapore, from Michelin-recommended spots to mod-Chinese picks. If you’re looking for something new to try for your next family meal, consider So Do Fun. This award-winning restaurant, which boasts over 100 outlets in China, has finally landed on our shores!

The new restaurant is located in Guoco Midtown, also home to Umai Artisanal Udon Bar and Mashi no Mashi. It’s a convenient six-minute walk from Bugis MRT Station.

The chain is most known for their Boiled Live Fish ($42.90++/$52.90++), a classic Sichuan dish that features tender fish simmered in a numbing broth of Sichuan peppercorns, chilli peppers, and a secret mix of spices. This dish is so popular at So Do Fun that it’s said to sell over a million sets each year in China! The restaurant has also received many awards, including the record of having an 11-hour-long queue in one of their outlets.

For this Singapore outpost, the fish is air-flown and delivered daily to the restaurant, so you’re getting them at their freshest. You can choose from three broth flavours: Chilli Pepper, Peppercorn, and Sauerkraut.

If fish isn’t your thing, you can give their Marbled Beef Mapo Tofu ($22.90++) a try. This hearty dish comes with silky tofu cubes, minced beef, and marbled beef slices, simmering in a spicy and savoury sauce that’s infused with Sichuan peppercorns and chilli peppers.

Else, their Grilled Prawns with Vermicelli and Minced Garlic ($21.90++) is another signature. This dish comprises grilled prawns with vermicelli noodles and minced garlic.

If you’re feeling adventurous, order the Mao Xue Wang ($29.90++), a traditional Sichuan dish starring spicy beef tripe with black soy bean, cooked in a mouth-numbingly spicy broth.

The restaurant offers a wide plethora of sides for sharing, too. These include Tender Frog with Peppercorn ($35.90++), Sweet and Sour Black Pork Ribs ($19.90++), Braised Pork Trotters in Clear Broth ($14.90++), and Kung Pao Chicken ($19.90++).
