Solo Ristorante has free-flow pasta at $48++ on Saturdays

Dining at fancy Italian restaurants on a whim is not for everyone, especially in today’s economy. And so when we chanced upon Solo Ristorante’s free-flow pasta deal that takes place every Saturday from 12pm to 2:30pm, our interest was piqued. At this Italian restaurant in Telok Ayer, you can enjoy as much pasta as you want within 90 minutes for just $48++!

The free-flow menu sees five different pastas, so you can try all of them if you have the stomach space. Their Spaghetti will surely tickle your fancy if you’re a fan of seafood: you get spaghetti tossed in a umami-rich sea urchin sauce, then topped with crab salad and lemon zest.

Try their Rigatoni next—this is essentially carbonara topped with guanciale, AKA Italian salt-cured pork, finished with grated Pecorino Romano. For the uninitiated, this is a type of traditional Italian cheese that’s relatively saltier, and is said to be best paired with pastas. You also get a dash of black pepper as the finishing touch to cut through the richness.

Pesto lovers are in for a treat as there’s also Fusilli on the menu, starring basil pistachio pesto, tomato, and Gana Padano cheese.

For something heartier, their Paccheri will do the trick. The large tube-shaped pasta comes with slow-braised pork ragout, topped with a generous amount of Grana Padano cheese. If you’d like more toppings, there are several add-ons for you to choose from: burratina, melon and cherry tomatoes ($15++) and 200g angus ribeye steak ($48++) are just some of the options.

And for the finale: the Chef’s Surprise Pasta changes depending on what’s available for the day. 

FYI, you can request bigger pasta portions across all five pasta dishes, but it’s recommended that you do so one plate at a time as there’s a $20++ food wastage surcharge.

Do note that the free-flow pasta deal only takes place on Saturdays from 12pm to 2:30pm. Dining time is limited to 90 minutes per customer, so feast to your heart’s content until time’s up!
