This New Hougang Cafe Sells Popular Artisanal Fatcarons, Legit Durian Cake And More

Sweedy Patisserie has dessert and breakfast items at Hougang

If you’ve ever seen giant macarons with thick, luscious fillings, they’re most likely fatcarons, a uniquely Korean twist to the petite French pastry. You can now get them at Sweedy Patisserie, a local homegrown brand that specialises in artisanal fatcarons, as well as durian cakes!

The brand was started by a mother-daughter duo, who work together to produce their famous sweet treats. Previously, Sweedy Patisserie’s desserts were only available online, with occasional pop-up stores around the island. You can now purchase them from their brand new flagship located a bus ride away from Kovan MRT Station.

Each fatcaron is literally #thicc with beautifully swirled cream. These sinful treats, which taste as good as they look, are worth indulging in. The flavours are updated monthly, with the specials for February being: Strawberry Cheesecake, Creme Brûlée, Cookies & Cream, Ferrero Rocher, Brownie Fudge, and Red Velvet.

Try their bestselling Ferrero Rocher, which stars an almond chocolate coating, chocolate hazelnut buttercream, and a Nutella filling. Alternatively, go for Strawberry Cheesecake, which sees strawberry cream cheese, white chocolate, and a strawberry jam centre.

You can get these fatcarons individually for $5 or in a box of six, priced at $30.

If you’re a durian lover, you definitely cannot miss out on their signature Mao Shan Wang Mousse Cake ($12.80). Each slice features luxurious Mao Shan Wang flesh between layers of fresh vanilla sponge cake, topped with almond crumbs to complement it all.

If you’re not a fan of durian, Sweedy Patisserie also offers other cake flavours to choose from, such as Pistachio Mille Crepe ($11.80) and Strawberry Shortcake ($10.80).

There’s also a brunch menu, which is available from 11am to 6pm. Most customers come for their Breakfast Sammie ($14), which has scrambled eggs, cheddar, candied bacon, and hashbrown—drizzled with maple syrup, and sandwiched between slices of soft brioche toast.

Alternatively, Beef Melt ($16) is another popular sandwich, which sees a generous amount of beef slices, caramelised onions, and mozzarella cheese, accompanied with sourdough bread.

Drinks-wise, Sweedy Patisserie offers coffee and tea options. You can get a cup of Espresso for $4.80. For non-coffee options, go for their iced Chocolate ($6.80) or Passionfruit Fizz ($6.80) which boasts a refreshing combination of passionfruit, lemon, and lime.

For other excellent cafe food, check out the world’s first Yole Cafe, which sells pistachio brioche, raspberry matcha latte and more! Otherwise, for another great cafe to visit, check out Equate Coffee, which sells barista-brewed coffee, sandos and croissants in Orchard Central!
