Tai Seng Fish Soup has a Michelin Bib Gourmand award
A lot of the popular fish soup stalls in Singapore tend to be in the CBD area—not the most accessible for folks who live in the far West. Thankfully, there’s Tai Seng Fish Soup to fill in that gap. The third-gen stall is located in Taman Jurong Food Centre and has a Michelin Bib Gourmand award for their top-tier fish soup.

Tai Seng Fish Soup’s heritage dates back to the ‘70s, as a street food stall, before setting up a permanent shop in Jurong, as well as Clementi Ave 3 and Ghim Moh Food Centre.

At the Jurong branch, you get to choose between all the usual fish soup options, be it Sliced ($5.50), Fried ($5.50), Mixed (from $6), or Fish Head ($5.50). To that, you can add extra ingredients, such as Fried Egg ($1), or even Fish Roe ($2). It’s an additional $0.50 for your carb, where you can choose between rice, ee mee, or thick bee hoon. TBH, the prices here are definitely value for money, given how pricey fish soup has become.

The soup here is power-packed with flavour—a product of slow-cooking fish bones to extract the collagen. It is seasoned well, so it’s got heaps of umami. You get a generous amount of fish with each serving. The fish here is fresh and sweet, delicious whether you get it fried or sliced.
Don’t skip a serving of their house-made chilli sauce. It’s very fiery, and pairs well with the delicate fish. They also have sliced chilli padi in soya sauce, for those who prefer a more traditional pairing.
It’s worth noting that when you search for Tai Seng online, you’ll often come across Thai Seng Fish Soup in Ubi, an equally popular stall, but they’re not the same.Â
