The Providore x Blac Blac has a self-serve wine buffet
I was a little sad after finding out that my favourite self-dispensing wine bar, Vin Geek, had closed its shutters. If you tried and loved their concept, you’ll be happy to know that there’s a similar version at The Providore x Blac Blac‘s new self-serve wine buffet. Additionally, the restaurant is offering a 1-for-1 promotion on this buffet from now till 7 July 2025, so you’re essentially paying half price!
The wine buffet is usually priced at $45.90++ per person for two hours of free-flow vino, and $59.90++ for three hours. With this deal, it only costs $22.95++ and $29.95++, respectively. You can enjoy it at three outlets: PLQ, VivoCity, and Downtown Gallery.
Here’s how it works. After selecting your free-flow option (two or three hours), you’ll get an RFID wristband. There are over 30 curated wine labels to choose from, with information about each bottle listed on the touchscreen. Once you’ve picked your poison, simply scan your wristband and confirm your choice. You can opt for a 30ml tasting portion or a full glass.
Then, take a glass, place it under the dispenser, and watch as the magic unfolds. Do note that there’s a three-minute break between each round, so you can’t get multiple glasses all at once.
There’s a good mix of reds and whites to choose from, including dessert wines, so you can slowly peruse each label and pick out your favourites.
While you’re here, pad your stomach with The Providore’s wide selection of mains and sides.
The Braised Beef Ribs with Truffle Mash ($49.80++), a new item on the menu, was a unanimous favourite at our table.
The meltingly tender beef was perfectly seasoned with a charred edge, pairing well with the piquant sauce.
The Sichuan Chilli Pepper Chicken Wings ($13.80++)Â is another popular pick, featuring crispy fried chicken wings tossed with a mouth-numbingly spicy peppercorn seasoning.
Unfortunately, the numbing sensation was a tad too strong for my liking as it competed with the real flavour of the wines.
I’m a big fan of The Providore’s Lobster Mac & Cheese (price TBD), a returning favourite on the menu. This main dish stars pasta with poached lobster, baked in cheese sauce, and served on an iron pan to keep warm. The lobster chunks were fresh and sweet, though a tad undercooked, while the cheese sauce was on the lighter side.
End your meal on a sweet note with the new Dutch Baby Pancake with Fresh Mango & Ice Cream ($18.80++). The hot and fluffy pancake, which boasted crispy edges, went well with the cool ice cream and sweet fruits.
Make sure you visit the restaurant’s PLQ, Downtown Gallery, and VivoCity outlets before 7 July to enjoy the 1-for-1 wine buffet! Bookings are recommended.
