Tiger Street Food Festival 2017 offers a night of hawker gems
At the mention of comfort food, it is probably impossible for Singaporeans to not think of the piping hot bowls of fishball soup or fragrant plates of nasi lemak that we grew up eating. Imagine a night of these hawker food, along with ice cold beer, live music, and cosy bean bags. If this sounds exciting to you, you’ll be glad to know it is a scene that will come to live at Tiger Street Food Festival 2017 on 22 September!
To be held at the field at Tan Quee Lan Street, the festival will be featuring 15 chosen hawkers from the Tiger Street Food Support Fund as well as popiah chef Michael Ker. Here are the dishes you can expect to dig into at the event:
- Prawn paste chicken from Ah Tan Wings
- Laksa from Kampong Laksa and Yam Mee Teochew Fishball Noodles
- Chinese desserts from Thong Sum Hot & Cold Desserts
- Handmade fishball soup from Fishboss
- Fusion mixed rice from Tasty Street

To get your hands on the food, you’ll have to purchase vouchers at the entrance with cash, and use them to redeem the food. Each set of voucher is worth $10 and comes in denominations of $2. Tiger Beer will commit an amount equivalent to the proceeds towards the next Tiger Street Food Support Fund, for the next batch of inspiring hawkers!
One of the most interesting features of the festival that you can look out for would be beer pairings. At each stall, you’ll find a poster that says which Tiger Beer would go best with your chow. Once you’ve got that info, just head down to either of the two drinks stalls at the festival to get your booze.
There’ll be a full range of Tiger Beers, namely the classic Tiger Beer, Tiger Black, Tiger White, Tiger Radler, and a refreshing Tiger Radler Slushie!

There will be a chill out corner where you can lay back on bean bags that will be placed around. Over a couple of drinks, you can relax with your friends and also enjoy video screenings about stories of the hawkers and their food.
So mark your calendar and head down to Tan Quee Lan Street with your squad to enjoy a night of hawker fare and drinks, and join the fun in uncaging street food with Tiger Beer!
