The next time you’re headed up to KL, put this spot on your list if you live and breathe ban mian—Wheatcraft Artisan Bakery, located in Mutiara Damansara, Petaling Jaya.

Founded in 2022, Wheatcraft Artisan Bakery specialises in breads and pastries made exclusively with French flour and butter. Earlier this year, they introduced Sourdough Pan Mee, AKA ban mian, which quickly became a hot favourite with customers.

Their noodles, like the bakes sold in-store, are made fresh daily with French flour, and undergo a 28-hour long fermentation, which gives each strand a better flavour. What’s more, because it’s a sourdough noodle, it’s supposed to be easier to digest too!

Like at most ban mian stalls, you can choose to have Classic Soup or Classic Dry Pan Mee here; each bowl is priced at RM19, which works out to approximately S$5.40. This may not seem the cheapest if you’re comparing it to prices in Malaysia, but Wheatcraft Artisan Bakery is a cafe after all, and their pan mee is not your regular ban mian!

This pan mee is also Muslim-friendly, though the bakery isn’t halal-certified. As such, your bowl of pan mee comes with minced chicken, shiitake mushrooms, fried ikan bilis, and other garnishes, including an egg. Do note that the pan mee is only sold from Mondays to Fridays from 11:30am to 4:30pm. It comes with a free coffee or tea!
