The Neighbourwok Opens Cafe In Serangoon With Famous Hokkien Mee And Kaya Toast

With a loyal following and three outlets in tow, hokkien mee lovers and westies alike would be no stranger to the cult-favourite stall, The Neighbourwok. Following their success, they’ve recently opened Wok & Toast, a casual cafe located in Serangoon Central.

Going beyond their beloved hokkien mee, the new outlet whips up a plethora of local dishes, ranging from breakfast favourites to Nasi Lemak ($7.80), served with a double-yolk fried egg.

Start your day with their breakfast sets from $5.80, which come with soft-boiled eggs, hot kopi or teh, and Kaya Butter Toast. You can choose between Pandan or Gula Melaka Kaya for your toast.

Of course, you can still get their iconic Fried Hokkien Prawn Mee here. Priced at $7.80, you get the same familiar wok hei-packed noodles topped with the usual fixings and crunchy pork lard, alongside their signature tangy sambal. 

Do note that The Neighbourwok’s hokkien mee is known to be on the wetter side.

Look forward to other noodle dishes, including Laksa ($6.80), where you can pick either prawns or cockles for your choice of protein. There’s also Dry Chilli Ban Mian ($6.80) topped with Hua Tiao wine-marinated minced pork, which we foresee would be a hot seller.

A plus point would be enjoying all these delicacies in air-conditioned comfort. It’s also an 11-minute walk away from Serangoon MRT Station, and we recommend heading here early to beat the peak hour crowds and long queues.
