World Christmas Market Singapore is at Marina Bay
Word is in: World Christmas Market Singapore is happening at The Promontory at Marina Bay this December! The new fair is ongoing till 25 December 2024, making it the perfect spot to soak up the festivities.
The very first stall to make a beeline for is Miss Chardog, selling a variety of American-style loaded hotdogs with poppadom chips on the side. We recommend going for their Miss Mentaiko ($14) which houses a cheese chicken sausage, bonito flakes, and onion in a buttery brioche.Â
Creamy mentaiko sauce is then piped on top and then torched, giving the bun a smoky-umami explosion of flavours. Other flavours in the lineup include the apple kimchi-adorned Miss Kimple ($15) and the Miss Beefchilli ($15).
Located right beside Miss Chardog, Spicy Chic SG offers the Viral Korean Buldak Omelette, a creation that first went viral after being sold at pasar malams in Malaysia. Here, Buldak Samyang noodles are covered in an egg mixture, which is then layered with fillings such as cheese and sausage before, it is rolled into an omelette. Â
If you’re big on Japanese flavours opt for Sohht’s fare, including their signature sushi tacos! A tortilla shell is swapped out for a crispy seaweed roll which is then filled with furikake rice, shredded tamago and cucumber, as well as your choice of protein. Choose from Mentaiko Crab, Sukiyaki Beef, Lobster Salad, and Teriyaki Unagi—these go for $10 a taco.Â
The same stall also sells Mochi Croffles from $13 and a variety of bubble teas in flavours such as Peppermint Milk Tea, White Peach Yakult and Mango Oolong. These go for just $5 a cup, which is also one of the cheaper beverage options at the fair.Â
If you’re not one for innovation, head to Wonderland Treats for a variety of good ol’ Western classics such as English Fish & Chips ($14), Loaded Beef Nachos ($12), and Truffle Fries ($10). They also have classic Christmas beverages such as Mulled Wine ($14) and Eggnog ($16) to complete the festive fare!Â
Our favourite of the savoury eats at the World Christmas Market has to be Breadfirst Everyday’s sliders.Â
These sliders remind me of Taiwanese gua bao, except the fillings here are much more diverse—with variations such as Yellow Curry Chicken ($14.90) and Thai Style Chicken ($14.90). These also come with a serving of shoestring fries.
End off the night with a trip to the Rollney’s station for their take on the Hungarian kurtos!Â
Kurtos are cone-shaped pastries usually dusted in walnut and sugar. At Rollney’s, however, they were the perfect vehicle for soft serve, which comes in two flavours at the stall: Hokkaido Milk and Chocolate. Aside from the kurtos, go all out and get the Kunafa Pistachio ($12.90) which sees a pairing of soft gelato and crunchy kunafa pastry, for a balance of textures.
The market also hosts a myriad of other fair staples such as corndogs, lok lok skewers, waffles, takoyaki, and churros among other snacks. Other than the food offerings, stay for the array of yuletide musicals, choir, and band musicals that happen throughout the night.Â
That’s not all: Grab users can enjoy a 15% discount on food items by redeeming the Grab Dine Out Deals via the app.
The Christmas market runs from 5pm to 11pm on weekdays and 4pm to 11pm on weekends. Keep your eyes peeled on World Christmas Market’s website and Instagram page for the latest updates.
