1030 Breakfast Shop has $2 toast and more in Chinatown
While Taiwanese breakfasts are a great way to start your day, they aren’t the most economical. That’s what makes 1030 Breakfast Shop, a recently opened stall in Chinatown Complex, so enticing: prices start from just $2 here.

Take the stall’s Taiwanese-style toast, for instance. They’ve got those in seven flavours here, with three of them priced at $2, namely the Black Sesame Toast, Chocolate Toast, and the locally-inspired Kaya Butter Toast.
The Black Sesame Toast came slathered with creamy black sesame paste, which boasted a good balance between sweet and nutty flavours.
If you’re willing to spend more on your toast, then you can get heartier options such as the Signature Toast ($6.50). This sandwich comes with a layer of peanut butter, melted cheese, condensed milk, sliced cucumber, pork chop, and luncheon meat!
Toasts aren’t the only dishes that are super affordable here. The Braised Pork Rice, AKA lu rou fan, also costs a mere $2.
While the portions are understandably small given the price, it still makes for a relatively substantial breakfast, and a comforting one at that. You could even order two bowls of lu rou fan, and it would still be more affordable than those at most Taiwanese eateries.
Though the stall’s egg rolls aren’t as affordable, we hear they are still worth a shot. Options such as Ham Cheese ($5), Pork Floss Cheese ($5), and even Hashbrown Bacon ($6) are delectable renditions of the popular Taiwanese street snack, and they make for great treats to have in the morning.
We enjoyed our Ham Cheese roll, featuring a thin ham slice and melted cheese wrapped in crispy dough.Â
1030 Breakfast Shop is tucked away in the blue zone of Chinatown Complex. The stall opens at 7:30am every day except Monday and Tuesday, so drop by for a simple yet hearty breakfast if you work or live in the area!
