World Food Fair Is Happening From 28 Sep, Has Over 200 Stalls From Thailand, Taiwan And More

World Food Fair is coming to Singapore EXPO from 28 Sep

If you’re looking for a foodie event to check out this month, mark your calendars for 28 September 2023, as that’s when the 18th edition of the acclaimed World Food Fair will take place. 

Running at the Singapore EXPO Hall 5 until 1 October, the food fair promises over 1,000 F&B products sold across 200-odd stalls, with items sourced from countries such as Thailand, Vietnam, Taiwan, Japan, and Korea. You also have an equally expansive mix of local delights. What’s more, admission is free!

A majority of the items here are available at show-only prices, which means they’ll be way more affordable than getting them online or through traditional retail channels. There’s a good mix of snacks, hot food stalls, pantry staples, frozen food and plenty more to check out under one roof. 

With so many stalls, it is hard for us to summarise the best of the World Food Fair, but if you’re pressed for time, we have some recommendations.

To start, the fair has a bunch of local and fan-favourite stalls. There’s the famed Poh Cheu Kitchen (booth A23), known for their ang ku kueh and other Nyonya kueh, selling their wares here. If you’d like more substantial dishes, you can get your hands on House of Seafood’s chilli crab (booth F41), Pin Si Kitchen’s Kampong Chicken Rice (booth N27), and Everything Good’s popular carrot cake (booth N19). 

If you’re looking for international eats, we’d start off by popping on over to booth N21 and bagging yourself a cheese corndog from Korean snack stall, Oppakim BBQ.

Head on over to the Thailand Pavillion, where you get to dig into bites from Yaowarat Street Food (booth N03), Candy Kanomthai (booth N21) and beyond. You’ll find everything from deep-fried squid snacks to moo ping skewers, and Thai desserts here.

Vietnamese food fans can also look forward to sipping on legit Vietnamese coffee while tucking into a delicious banh mi from the Vietnam Pavilion (booth H17 & H21). Don’t forget to try out the classic Vietnamese pia cake, AKA mung bean cake snack from the popular Tân Huê Viên brand (booth C31). 

Those looking for something spicy can head on over to grab the legit Penang Assam Laksa ($5) from D’Laksa (booth N05). We also recommend saving some stomach space for 8 Degrees Taiwanese Bistro’s (booth N29) pork belly rice. 

As mentioned, the World Food Fair has tons of snacks and small bites you can bring home, from Uncle Saba’s Poppadom snacks, priced at $7 for four tubes, to sweet nibbles such as cookies, biscuits and plenty more.

Durian lovers will also be excited to know that there are a plethora of durian desserts ranging from mao shan wang ice cream from Durian Garden (booth G37) to the famed Mao Shan Wing Swiss Roll from Stinky by 99 Trees (booth A21) and more.

The World Food Fair will also be the place for many new product launches! Homegrown brand ACE Fishmarket (booth E43) is reinventing the fish and chips game with an all-new High Protein Mini Fish Bites & Crusty’s Tempeh Chips, an addictively crunchy snack made with baby fish and tempeh chips. These are prepared so they’re healthier, and also are made with sustainably sourced fish, so you can snack guilt-free.

Another snack brand, Skinnie Biscotti (booth A15), is adding three new flavours to their biscotti lineup: Gula Melaka Almond, Chocolate Almond, and Pistachio & Pumpkin Seed.

Besides getting items at a steal, the World Food Fair has plenty of other eye-catching deals, including 50% off at select stalls, free gifts with purchase, and plenty others. They will also be having daily $0.50 deals, where you can get items for just $0.50, from chicken essence to bak kwa. In order to enjoy the $0.50 specials, you’ll have to swing by their information counter at 3pm to grab a voucher. Limited quantities are available, and each person is entitled to one voucher.
