Everyone knows Japanese fare isn’t the cheapest in Singapore, so much so that we even have a curated guide to cheap Japanese food under $15++. One eatery that hasn’t made the list, because it’s new, is Uma Haus in Chinatown. Everything on the menu is priced under $10!

Uma Haus specialises in ramen, with six soup dishes and a dry option on the menu. The latter, Abura Dry Ramen, is the cheapest item priced at just $3.90. For the same price, you can also opt for their Classic Zaru Soba.

If you prefer your noodles in a warm, comforting broth, choose from four tonkotsu soup bases: Original, Spicy, Black Garlic Oil, and Prawn Oil.

The most popular of the lot is their Signature Tonkotsu Ramen ($6.90), comprising springy noodles submerged in a rich, milky broth made using pork bones, and topped with three slices of char siew and an ajitama. Seafood lovers can consider the Kurma Tempura Ramen ($7.90), which replaces the char siew with three pieces of deep-fried black tiger prawn tempura.

Ramen aside, there are four rice bowls featuring different proteins for those who prefer rice to noodles. You can’t go wrong with Gyu Don Delight ($7.90), starring tender beef slices in sweet-savoury soy sauce. The Salmon Mentaiko Bowl ($9.90) is another great choice for those who love punchier flavours, as the salmon comes topped with spicy pollock roe.

A good way to substantiate your meal is to add on a side. Choose from six different kinds, with prices ranging from $1.50 to $4.90—Ajitama is the cheapest, while Scallop Mentai and Black Tiger Prawn Tempura are the priciest ones.
