Best new restaurants and cafes in September 2025

New month, new restaurants! We’ve scouted the latest openings around Singapore so you know where to go for your next meal. From a Michelin-approved soba eatery from Korea to affordable fried chicken in a hawker centre, these are the best new restaurants and cafes to check out this September 2025.

1. Gwanghwamun Mijin

Gwanghwamun-Mijin-flatlay

Michelin-approved Gwanghwamun Mijin is finally in Singapore! ICYMI, this new Korean restaurant, with a long-standing history of over 70 years, specialises in freshly made buckwheat noodles. The 88-seater restaurant is located at Far East Square, a six-minute walk from Chinatown MRT Station.

The best item on the menu is, of course, their Signature Buckwheat Noodles ($15++). Every order comes with two trays of house-made buckwheat noodles, freshly brewed broth chilled to a slush in a kettle, and crispy seasoned laver. The steps are simple: add some grated daikon and wasabi to a bowl, fill it with broth, and garnish with chopped green onions. Finally, add your noodles and voila, you’re good to go. It’s also a good idea to get a plate of Steam Korean Dumpling ($7++) to share with your dining companion(s), as the dumplings go really well with the buckwheat noodles.

2. Mak Man Kee

Another eatery that’s constantly on Hong Kong’s Michelin Bib Gourmand lists is Mak Man Kee, known for their wonton mee with huge dumplings. The eatery is located at Causeway Point’s Food Republic, sharing a space with the newly opened Joy Luck Teahouse.

Mak-Man-Kee-wonton

A bowl of their soup Wonton Noodles ($9.80) comes with thin, springy noodles, prawn wonton, and kai lan. We liked how plump and packed each dumpling was without being overly doughy, but the soup wasn’t exactly what we had anticipated, as it was lacking in depth. It’d be helpful to note that chicken bones, instead of the usual pork bones, are used to make the broth at the SG outlet.

Thankfully, the Clear Beef Soup Noodles ($13.80) tasted better thanks to the flavourful soup, tender beef brisket and tendon, and soft, slippery kway teow.

3. Big Fried Chicken

Big-Fried-Chicken-flatlay

If you’re like me and love a good crispy fried chicken deep-fried to a golden-brown, save Big Fried Chicken to your list of must-visit eateries. Our team went down after the brand went viral on Instagram for their $4.50 fried chicken rice.

Go straight for the 2 Wings 1 Rice ($4.50), which comes with a serving of rice and two deep-fried chicken wings, accompanied by a few slices of cucumber. The chicken wing was decent with tender, juicy meat within, but what really surprised us was the flavourful rice. Each grain was plump and fluffy; we could taste the chicken fat that elevated plain rice to a whole new level. We also recommend a side of Chicken Skin ($2/100g) or Chicken Gizzard ($2/100g) to snack on!

4. D’Legacy

Chef X at Clarke Quay Central is known for giving home-based chefs a platform to showcase their cooking in a commercial setting. Ths time, the pop-up features D’Legacy by Daryl and Philomena Nonis until 1 October 2025, where diners can enjoy comforting Eurasian food drawn straight from their family recipes.

Our favourite item was their Shepherd’s Pie ($10), which features creamy and buttery mashed potatoes with a generous serving of savoury and well-spiced minced beef, its texture unmarred by peas, which are conventionally used. Their sets are priced at $15, and include mains such as the spicy Curry Devil and the flavourful Babi Pongteh, alongside a soup, drink, and dessert. The traditional Sugee Cake was packed with rich almond flavours, and was a great finish to the meal.

For delicious and authentic North Indian fare, look no further than SanSara at Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel Singapore. The restaurant recently reopened with an elegant new design and refreshed menu inspired by the timeless flavours of the region.

Start your feast with the Jhinga Nisha ($39++), where tandoori jumbo prawns are grilled till charred perfection, and served with creamy yoghurt to cut through the smokiness. For mains, the Sarson Ka Saag Makai Di Roti ($26++) is a must-get; it features a fragrant and complex mustard leaf curry paired with maize flour breads. Otherwise, the Kukkad Makhan Masala ($33++), AKA butter chicken, will impress with its rich and creamy sauce.

6. The Masses

the-masses-flatlay

Popular Franco-Asian restaurant The Masses recently refreshed its offerings, featuring produce-led dishes, wallet-friendly communal menus and more. You must order their Homemade “Rainbow” Brioche ($4.90++) to start. A nod to the ice cream sandwich we grew up with, the house-made brioche bread is coloured naturally with beetroot, berries and pandan, and then served with kelp-infused French butter. Another highlight is the Burrata & Heirloom Tomato ($26.90++), which combines rich burrata cheese with confit-aged tomatoes, pickled anchovies, and cordyceps mushrooms.

For mains, get the Chicken Supreme ($25.90++): French yellow chicken brined for 12 hours and pan-roasted, paired with local Golden Cap Farm mushrooms, broccoli, and a sweet prune puree infused with smoked black tea.

Don’t miss out on their value-for-money weekday lunch set, priced from $30.90++ per person for a two-course meal!

7. Creamie Sippies

If you love matcha cafes as much as we do, you’ll want in on this opening. Creamie Sippies has opened a new outlet along Keong Saik Road, offering Singapore’s first matcha mill. The machine is specially imported from Japan! We’re told that the mill only churns out 30 to 40 grams of matcha powder each hour—a time-consuming process that results in matcha that’s smooth in texture after it’s whisked.

You can look forward to outlet-exclusive drinks, including their new cloud series: think Earl Grey Matcha Cloud ($9.90), Butterfly Pea Coconut Cloud ($8.90) and more. We also enjoyed the viral Banana Pudding Matcha Latte ($9.90), where a generous scoop of banana pudding sits on their signature matcha latte.

8. MrBeast Burger

ICYMI: MrBeast Burger is not in Singapore! Started in 2020, the brand has expanded to over 2,000 outlets, quickly building a presence in 17 countries. Fans can try the burgers and sides via delivery and self-pickup, through a partnership with Dignity Kitchen, a food court along Boon Keng Road.

We recommend the Nashville Hot Chicken Tender Sandwich ($11.50), where crunchy fried chicken tenders are coated in a house-made chilli oil, then paired with creamy mayo, lettuce, and pickles.

Unfortunately, we were let down by their Beast Style (Beef) Burger ($15): two smashed beef patties topped with melty cheese, sliced pickles, diced onions, and a generous spread of mayo and ketchup, all between two toasted buns. While the beef patties were well-seasoned, we found that they lacked the smoky notes you’d typically get in a smashed burger.

Here’s one good reason to visit the new Weave at RWS: Niku Niku Oh Kome has opened at the new mall with affordable hamburg on rice. This new outpost marks the brand’s 47th store and its first in Singapore, after successful expansions into Hong Kong, the Philippines, and Indonesia.

Whatever set you order, you’ll get beef patties with free-flow rice, miso soup, and broccoli, as well as an egg of your choice—a raw pasteurised egg yolk in house-made teriyaki sauce, or an onsen egg in the same sauce. Go straight for the 1 Original + 1 Cheese + 1 Avocado Steak ($22.80++), if you’d like a taste of everything that Niku Niku Oh Kome has to offer. Each patty is grilled to order to 30% doneness at the central grill, then delivered to your personal hotplate to continue cooking. Each Cheese Steak sees a slice of cheddar melted on, before fresh Grana Padano is grated to finish.

10. Kikanbo

Ramen fans, take note: the Tokyo-famous Kikanbo (鬼金棒), known for their spicy ramen, is opening at VivoCity this month! The restaurant first launched as a cosy nine-seater stall at Kanda, Tokyo in 2009, before making its way across Japan, Taipei, and Hong Kong.

Kikanbo specialises in karashibi ramen, a unique blend of ‘kara’ (spicy) and ‘shibi’ (numbing), resulting in a mala-esque type of spice. Their signature broth is made with white miso, red chilli peppers, and a combination of Japanese sansho peppers and Sichuan peppercorns. If you’re not big on spicy food, you can customise your spice level according to tolerance, ranging from mild to ‘onimashi’ (demon-level).

Here are some must-tries: Niku-Niku Karashibi Miso Ramen, featuring two hefty slabs of pork belly, springy, thick noodles, grilled corn, and Kikanbo’s signature fiery broth, and Pakuchi Karashibi Miso Ramen, complete with a mountain of fresh coriander.

You won’t go wrong with the A5 Miyazaki Sirloin Gyukatsu Zen ($55++), which is the most premium Wagyu cut available at the restaurant. This beef cutlet is said to be crispy on the outside and incredibly buttery within, with a gorgeous pink middle. Alternatively, for a more affordable option, the  Sirloin Gyukatsu Zen (from $25++) won’t disappoint. Their Beef Tongue Gyukatsu Zen ($37++) is also worth a try, best paired with condiments ranging from Kyoto-style curry to a rich gyukatsu sauce.
