The lala hotpot craze is at an all-time high in Singapore, with the number of eateries offering the dish ever increasing. Beauty in The Pot is the latest to join the trend, putting their own spin on it with the Flaming Ocean Bai Jiu Lala Broth, available from 6 November to 31 December 2024.

Priced at $39.80++ for single pot orders only, this rendition of lala hotpot is exciting for several reasons. For one, the dish is put together in front of your eyes—watch as the staff adds ginger, pork bone broth, hua diao wine and of course, giant lala clams into the hotpot. When the broth starts bubbling, you can be sure that its rich aroma will draw you in.

That’s not all: Yanghe Ocean Blue, a premium Chinese baijiu produced by Yanghe Distillery, serves as the finishing touch.

A spoonful of this floral, fruity baijiu is set on fire before being poured into the hotpot for added theatrics.

The result is a broth that’s both rich and fragrant, with savoury depth, subtle sweetness, and a floral hint from the baijiu.

You’re likely to be impressed by the giant lala too. These are said to be imported from the ocean near Philippines, guaranteeing freshness and umami goodness.

As you’d expect from Beauty in The Pot, there’s a host of quality ingredients you can order to dip into your hotpot. We recommend ordering the Assorted Pork Platter ($42.80++), which comes with several cuts of pork that pair excellently with the lala broth.

For seafood, the Fresh White Sea Prawn (from $13.50++), which are fresh, juicy, and sweet, are a good pick.

If unshelled prawns are too much of a hassle to eat, you can always get the Ebiko Prawn Paste ($19.80++) instead.

We also recommend the Sliced Snakehead (from $9++) fish slices: delicate and mildly sweet, they offer a satisfying, tender bite that enhances your hotpot experience. Do note that the prices of these a la carte items may vary depending on which outlet you visit!

If you’re a DBS/POSB Credit or Debit Cardmember, or a Paradise Gourmet Rewards (PGR) member, you can enjoy the Flaming Ocean Bai Jiu Lala Broth for just $35.80. Even if you’re not, this limited-time-only lala broth is worth a try for any hotpot enthusiast.
