ICYMI: Singapore’s largest mall, VivoCity, recently got a makeover, where over 70 F&B stores have found a home at Basement 2, alongside a revamped Kopitiam Food Hall with more than 30 stalls. That’s not all— popular homegrown chain BreadTalk reopened their doors with a brand new look and outlet-exclusive menu in celebration of their 25th birthday!

VivoCity Basement 2 Reopens With Japan-Famous Curry Buns, Fresh Pasta And More

You’ll notice that BreadTalk’s usual signage is missing at the VivoCity branch. This is intentionally done to pique customers’ curiosity, while surprising them with a new, cool concept. You can even see bakers in action at the live cooking stations, while they are busy at work with huge conveyor decks and pizza ovens.

Another thing to look forward to is the outlet-exclusive menu, with over 50 items to choose from. There’s a small display featuring some of BreadTalk’s classics, such as the pork floss buns, but most of what you see is new and special to the VivoCity branch.

There’s a display just for sliders, ranging from the Truffle Chicken Slider ($5.80) that’s made with charcoal buns, truffle mashed potatoes, shiitake mushrooms, and chicken katsu, to the Beef Rendang Slider ($6) featuring mozzarella cheese, hashbrown, rendang beef curry, and rosemary.

Our favourite was the tarts section, with the stunning Strawbrulee Layer Tart ($5.20) instantly catching our eyes. This gorgeous treat features a golden layer of brulee tart, egg tart pudding, a fresh strawberry and more.

There’s also the adorably named Babyface ($7.20), almost like a souffle pudding that combines a slice of roll cake topped with a caramel pudding.

While queuing to make payment, you’ll be tempted to snag a box of the Blueberry Mille-Feuille ($6.70), an indulgent tart made with vanilla white chocolate cream, blueberries, pistachio, and thyme. There’s also the Pistachio Basque Cheesecake ($7.60), starring vanilla chiffon and pistachio basque cheesecake, finished with whipped cheese cream and pistachio kunafa crumble.

You can find BreadTalk at VivoCity near the gantry of Harbourfront MRT Station. FYI, the newly revamped space still functions as a grab-and-go bakery without any dine-in seats!
