Famous French-Japanese cafe brand Cafe Kitsune opened their first outlet in Singapore at Capitol Singapore back in December 2022. In celebration of the brand’s 10th anniversary, they’ve just launched Matcha Kitsune, a menu consisting of matcha-based drinks and desserts. Do note, that this menu will only be available from now until 1 November 2024.

Expect several unique matcha drinks other than the classic Matcha Latte ($7.50++/$8.50++) from their original menu. These include the Matcha Strawberry Latte ($8.50++), Matcha Coconut Cloud ($8.50), Matcha Jasmine Coconut ($8.50++) and the Bergamot And Jasmine Matcha Fizz ($7.50++).

7 Best Matcha Brands In Singapore Ranked, Including Hvala And Naoki

Coconut lovers would especially enjoy the Matcha Coconut Cloud, a refreshing concoction of earthy matcha and sweet coconut water! Else, the Matcha Strawberry Latte is another must-try, with the sweet and tangy notes from the chunky strawberry bits.

Moving onto the desserts: not only was the Matcha Strawberry Shortcake ($12++) pretty to look at, it also tasted divine. Layered with cream, matcha sponge cake, and strawberries, the dessert had just the right amount of sweetness and was also pleasantly light.

The Matcha Chocolate Loaf Cake ($7++), on the other hand, was on the dense end texture-wise. The loaf was a delightful and harmonious combination of dark chocolate and matcha.

Another dessert that incorporates the winning combination of matcha and chocolate was the Matcha White Chocolate Madeleines ($8++ for two). The buttery, sponge cake-like madeleines are encased in a sweet matcha white chocolate shell.

One of our top two desserts from the lineup was the Matcha Tiramisu ($12++). The dessert featured layers of thick matcha-infused fresh cream and bittersweet matcha paste, dusted with matcha powder—truly a matcha lover’s dream!

Next up was the Matcha Canele ($6++), which was our absolute favourite item! Slice open the canele and you get a vibrant-green, thick slab of matcha cream in the middle. The exterior of the pastry had a nice chew to it, while the inside was soft and moist. But the component that took the dessert to the next level was the gao matcha cream, which was delightfully bittersweet.

You can also get a variety of Cafe Kitsune’s merchandise in store, including their ceremonial grade matcha powder sourced from Kagoshima, Japan.
