Chan Susu has traditional Chinese desserts in Orchard

While there’s been lots of hype surrounding the opening of Molly Tea at Orchard Gateway, there’s considerably less talk about this new dessert cafe in the same mall. Located just opposite Mollytea, Chan Susu serves up plenty of delicious traditional Chinese desserts, including pistachio paste, shaved ice and more. Better yet, they open till 11pm daily, making it a great spot for those late-night cravings.

We Tried Molly Tea’s Signature Drinks To See If They’re Worth The Hype

Since opening in January, the cafe has already amassed over 300 reviews and an impressive 4.5-star rating on Google at the time of writing, catching our attention as a dessert spot worth visiting.

Being their signature item, we had to try their Handmade Lava Taro Balls Grand Bowl ($8.90+).

FYI, while the dessert usually comes chilled, you can ask for it, and most of their other desserts, to be served warm or at room temperature. But as recommended by the staff, we got all our desserts the OG way, served cold.

The bowl was loaded with a ton of tasty ingredients: sticky black glutinous rice, silky smooth grass jelly, earthy red beans, peach gum, and taro balls, served alongside a cup of farm fresh water buffalo milk to pour.

But the star of the bowl had to be the taro balls. Each piece was soft, chewy, and filled with a velvety taro paste.

We also enjoyed their popular 100% Natural Pistachio Paste ($8.60+). While a touch milkier than other pistachio pastes, it still had a pleasant nuttiness that’s sure to please pistachio fans.

The Sea Salt Fresh Mango Taro Milky Snow ($13.80+) is another great dessert to beat the heat with, starring fluffy, bingsu-like shaved ice, doused in milk, then topped with fresh mango chunks, creamy taro paste, fruity popping mango sago, and two scoops of sea salt vanilla ice cream, before it’s finished with crunchy almond slices for added texture.

For something different, don’t miss out on their Pandan Lava French Toast ($7.60+), featuring a thick slice of crispy and fluffy toast, topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, crunchy coconut flakes, and a generous drizzle of sweet, fragrant pandan sauce.
