ChubTuTu: Famous Durian Kueh Tutu And Matcha Muah Chee At Tampines Pasar Malam

ChubTuTu is at Tampines Night Bazaar with famous kueh tutu

If you’re a fan of kueh tutu, or tutu kueh, ChubTuTu might ring a bell. The famous homegrown brand used to have a physical store in Yishun, but ever since their closing, fans have been on the lookout for night bazaars to get their beloved kueh tutu. Good news, you can now get your hands on their traditional treats at the Tampines Night Bazaar that’s running till 30 November 2023.

We’re a huge fan of variety when it comes to food, so you can imagine our excitement upon finding out there are more than 15 kueh tutu flavours available here. From traditional flavours ($3.50 for five pieces) such as Kaya, Rainbow, and Gula Melaka, to premium flavours ($5 for five pieces) with the likes of Rose, Sakura, and Butterfly Pea, there’s bound to be something for everyone here.

There’s also fun in trying out the special flavours of the day. During our visit, there were Mint, Nutella, Lotus Biscoff, Black Sesame (BSSM), and Pi Pa Gao selling at $4 for five pieces. Do note that you can pay an additional $0.50 for mixed flavours!

As if these flavours don’t suffice, there are unique flavours that are difficult—or impossible—to find elsewhere. These include Lobster Salad, D24 Durian, Musang King Durian, and Yuzu Sesame Salmon. You can get these at $6.50 for five pieces!

After much thought, we decided to get two pieces of Black Sesame, two of D24 Durian, and a Lobster Salad.

My colleague and I agreed that the D24 Durian was our favourite—the creamy and sweet filling was a great pairing with the soft and spongy steamed cake. Also, we were impressed by how generous they were with the durian filling.

As diehard fans of BSSM, we were surprised that the Lobster Salad was more to our liking. We appreciated that there wasn’t any seafood odour, and the creamy consistency made it all the better.

The Black Sesame kueh tutu was slightly gritty in terms of texture, but made for a good treat to have on the go nonetheless.

Another interesting item on their menu is Matcha Muah Chee ($4). 

Perhaps it’s the matcha lover in me writing, but the balance between grassy and bittersweet flavours made this traditional snack particularly moreish. You can get this in two other flavours: Coffee ($4) and Black Sesame ($4). For a mix of all three flavours, simply pay an additional $0.50!
