Cloud has minimalist bakes and coffee in Duxton Hill

Cloud Cafe - flatlay

There’s a new cafe in Duxton Hill that’s become the latest Instagram hotspot! Just a minute’s walk from Maxwell MRT Station is Cloud, a minimalist cafe serving equally minimalist bakes such as banana bread and lemon pound cake.

Cloud Cafe - interiors

The cafe sports a dreamy, moody theme. Its highlights are a ceiling of paper mache “clouds”, and the space’s industrial accents. While most of the cafe is dimly lit, the hidden area towards the back welcomes a stream of natural sunlight, making it a great spot for OOTD shots.

Upon walking into the cafe, one is immediately drawn towards the cafe’s display of daily bakes, all of which are artfully placed on the counter. Besides loaf cakes and cookies, they also offer espresso-based coffee beverages made from single-origin beans.

Cloud Cafe - Mocha

Drinks start from $3 for a shot of Espresso, along with Black Coffee and White Coffee at $5 and $5.50. Those who prefer their cuppa sweet can order the Mocha ($6), which was delightfully chocolatey during our visit.

Cloud Cafe - Banana Bread and Strawberry Lemon Cake

Two of the cafe’s most-ordered bakes are the Banana Bread ($5) and Strawberry Lemon Cake ($5), with the latter being a seasonal item. While the Banana Bread looked and tasted similar to old-school banana cakes, it was on the denser side, texture-wise.

As for the Strawberry Lemon Cake, we found it to be moderately sweet with a subtle lemon flavour.

Cloud Cafe - fruit cake crumble

You can also try the Fruit Cake Crumble ($6), another seasonal confectionery that’s the cafe’s take on an apple crumble pie, baked with poached apple chunks hidden within.

As Cloud is still in their soft-launch phase, cafe hoppers can expect a more extended menu in the future, perhaps with the addition of more mainstay bakes.
