Don Don Donki Is Now Open In PLQ Mall With New Teppan Yaki Soba And Bentos

Don Don Donki is now open in Paya Lebar Quarter

The Don Don Donki empire marches on as the Japanese mega-chain opens their 16th outlet in Singapore, this time at Paya Lebar!

Located on the fourth floor of PLQ Mall, next to Hot Tomato and on the same floor as KopiTime, the mall’s food court, this latest Don Don Donki follows a train theme, with a humongous train mural on the walls outside the Japanese mart.

Fans can look forward to an all-new Teppan Yaki Soba concept at the Japanese food hall, located within the premises.

There are three types of yakisoba on offer, made with a special sauce imported from Japan. The most basic option is Plain Sauce Yaki Soba ($5.90), followed by Plain Omelet Sauce Yaki Soba ($7.90), and finally Seafood Negi Shio Yaki Soba ($7.90), topped with seafood and scallions.

Unlike the bento yakisoba sold at the hot food section within Don Don Donki, these are fried to order, and feature a slightly thicker noodle that has more bite to it.

Also found at the Teppan Yaki Soba stall are fresh takoyaki, AKA octopus balls—unlike the ones you normally find, these are deep-fried.

Get these in Original Sauce ($5.90/$7.90/$10.90) or Mentai Mayo Cheese ($6.90/$8.90/$12.90) and choose from six-piece, eight-piece, and 12-piece options.

Otherwise, for something more unique, try the Cheese Salsa ($6.90/$8.90) version, which comes with a creamy cheese and spicy salsa sauce. These are only available in six or eight pieces a box.

First introduced at Don Don Donki’s Jurong Point outlet, you’ll also find Sen Sen Sushi at this PLQ branch.

Other than sushi sets, you’ll be able to feast on a la carte sushi, Mini Chirachi Don ($8.80) and even uni here too.

Besides yakisoba and sushi, the foodhall offers Fruits Ice Cream ($2.90) and Fruits Coke ($2.90), plus various unique sando options such as Chilli Crabstick Sandwich!

If you head to the hot food section within the supermart, check out their all-new EKI bento sets, which are inspired by Japan’s impressive railway system.

Inspired by the bento boxes that are sold at train stations across Japan, options here include Nori Bento with Teriyaki Chicken ($10.90)Nori Bento Teriyaki Saba ($11.90) and more.

For those of you who are here for the shopping, don’t miss the Don Don Donki Collagen Nabe Soup ($14.80), an item that was regularly sold out when they first launched it.

Alternatively, stock up on some Japanese Pork Pau ($9.80) or Japanese Beef Pau ($9.80), each of which comes with two buns. Created in collaboration with specialty meat grocer Anzu Meat Factory, the beef bao features a filling of U.S. Black Angus and Japanese Miyazaki Wagyu beef!

New to this store is also a range of halal-certified flavoured green teas. Each pack of 10 tea bags is priced at $6.90, and comes in flavours including Apple, Cherry Blossom, Peach, Strawberry and more.

In other Don Don Donki-related news, the chain started offering these delectable Milo chocolate bars that are made in Japan. As far as we can tell, this snack can only be found in Singapore at DDK outlets.

The Milo chocolate bars come in a box of 10 individually packed bars, which will set you back $5.50. We are not sure if this will be a permanent addition to Don Don Donki’s range of desserts, so it’s probably best to get your hands on some while stocks last.

There’s also the Aburi Terimayo Oyster Bento ($15.80) to look out for at Don Don Donki outlets, especially since there are limited quantities daily. Each box has at least 10 fresh oysters—said to be imported from Hiroshima—served on Japanese pearl rice.
