If you consider yourself a Wagyu connoisseur of sorts, you should definitely pay Fat Cow Wagyu Restaurant a visit at least once in your life. The long-standing fine-dining restaurant was also once listed in the Michelin Guide—a testament to its prestige and popularity.

Fat Cow serves some of the finest Wagyu you can find in Singapore; enjoy the beef whichever way you want—char-grilled, shabu-shabu, sukiyaki, in a rice bowl, or as a sandwich. All their beef is imported directly from producers in Japan, America, and Australia.

Customers can also choose their preferred weight, choice, and cuts of Wagyu. Options include the Japanese Beef Grade A3, known for its subtle sweetness and thin layer of fat around the edge, and the Japanese Beef Grade A5, which boasts fuller marbling and a more distinct umami flavour.

Fat Cow also takes pride in their simple Japanese cooking technique, a philosophy of minimalism that is also reflected in the restaurant’s interior, from the ceramic walls to the ceiling of latticework, and wood-imprinted menus.

One of their most popular offerings is their set lunches, which come with your choice of dish, salad, chawanmushi, miso soup, and dessert. The most affordable option is the Wagyu Stew ($45++), featuring slow-cooked Wagyu simmered in sake and mirin. There’s also the Tenderloin Wagyu Curry ($55++), which sees pan-seared Toriyama A4 Wagyu tenderloin plated with sauteed shimeji mushrooms, served with house-made Japanese curry on the side.

Donburi sets are also available, including the popular Fat Cow Donburi ($58++): charcoal-grilled Wagyu drizzled with fragrant truffle oil, topped with an onsen egg. If you’re looking to splurge, treat yourself to the Kobujime Premium Wagyu Donburi ($138++). This gives you a lavish bowl of Kombu-cured Miyazaki A4 Wagyu sitting atop Japanese sushi rice, served alongside herring roe, chives, Japanese leek, and gooey egg yolk.

Take your time to flip through the a la carte menu, which showcases the different Wagyu selections, such as Sandai Wagyu and Satsuma Wagyu. For something sweet and juicy, get the Wagyu Ribeye Cap 120g ($188++), or try the Saga A5 Wagyu 150g ($168++), known for its rich yet clean flavour.

If you’d like to sample different cuts of Wagyu cooked in various ways all at once, opt for their 12- to 20-course omakase menus instead. The Wagyu Omakase is priced at $290++ per person, and is available daily at 7:15pm. You can also top up $68++ for a sake and wine pairing.
