If you’re a fan of Korean food, we’ve got great news for you! Hankang Pocha has just opened its newest outlet at City Square Mall, and unlike its three existing locations, this outlet follows a three-in-one concept, featuring a dine-in restaurant with free-flow banchan, a takeaway cafe, and even a ramyeon library.

Upon entering, we were greeted by a huge ramyeon library, lined with colourful ramen packets and bowls.

Grab a basket or trolley and stock up on all the ramyeon you want, including popular picks such as the Buldak series in a variety of flavours.

FYI, there aren’t any cooking stations available yet, so you’ll have to bring your haul home to enjoy. We hear that the cooking machines will be installed soon, though, so keep your eyes peeled for that.

You can expect to find cult favourites such as the Samyang Buldak Hot Chicken Ramen ($2.99), in Original and 2x Spicy flavours.

If you’re looking for something new, the library also carries other less common flavours, namely the Samyang Buldak Hot Chicken Ramen Habanero Lime ($2.99).

Aside from Korean instant noodles, there are plenty of snacks and drinks, so take your time and browse through the items.

The spread of banchan includes six kinds: Spicy Tofu, sweet-savoury Fish Cake, Kimchi, garlicky Watercress Namul, Braised Potato, and Korean Sausage in a sweet and mildly spicy sauce.

Choose your mains from the extensive menu, with dishes starting from as low as $5.80+. They’ve got everything from rice and BBQ meat to soup and noodles.

A popular pick is the Angus Beef Sotbap ($18.80+). Served in a sizzling pot, it features tender slices of New Zealand Angus beef, cooked to a delicious medium rare, and paired with kimchi fried rice, fresh watercress, seaweed, and a raw egg yolk.

The dish also comes with a plate of rice with seaweed, carrots, and cucumber for you to make jumeokbap, AKA Korean rice balls. Here’s a tip: dip the rice balls in the tteobokki sauce for the best experience.

Before leaving, grab a drink at Korner Coffee, a takeaway cafe located just opposite the ramyeon library.

We loved their Iced Strawberry Matcha ($7.80), which had a sweet-tangy strawberry jam that didn’t overwhelm the earthy matcha flavour.

If you’ve a sweet tooth, get the Dirty Camelot Caramel ($7.80), featuring an iced latte drizzled with sweet caramel syrup and topped with pieces of crisp honeycomb candy.

Hankang Pocha’s new outlet is located in the basement of City Square Mall, a six-minute walk from Farrer Park MRT Station.
