Hou Lah is a new Taiwanese cafe in Lavender

Thanks to the numerous Taiwanese eateries that have popped up in Singapore, we don’t have to travel all the way to Taiwan for our dan bing or milk tea fix. Another new joiner on the list is Hou Lah, a Taiwanese cafe that has just opened its doors along North Bridge Road, an eight-minute walk from Lavender MRT Station.

The brand previously operated as a pop-up at night markets across the island, so this new brick-and-mortar launch is good news for those who tried and loved their goods!

Hou Lah is known for their Crumble Spread Thick Toast series, which stars a sweet and crumbly topping that looks similar to bolo bun or the famous Rotiboy coffee bun. Each toast is smeared with their signature crumble topping, before it’s baked to golden brown perfection.

The Original Classic Thick Toast ($4.80)Â is said to be a must-try, though regulars love their Cheese Thick Toast ($5.80) too. They also have an Earl Grey Creme Thick Toast ($5.80)Â if you’re a fan of tea-flavoured snacks!

Besides toast, Hou Lah offers a good range of dan bing AKA Taiwanese egg omelette roll. Choose from interesting flavours such as Fish Floss Taiwan Crepe ($6.20) and Hash Brown Taiwan Crepe ($5.20), or get their Egg Omelette Taiwan Crepe ($4.80) for a classic taste.
For those who want something more filling, the cafe also serves Taiwanese noodles, including their Hou Lah Lala Fried Noodles ($13.20)Â and Seafood Guo Shao Yi Mian ($10.80). Wash it all down with a cup of Milk Tea ($3.20)Â for the complete Taiwanese experience!
