Isetan Tsukimi Matsuri Japanese food fair is now at Tampines Mall
Good news for Easties: there’s a huge Japanese food fair at Tampines Mall! The Isetan Tsukimi Matsuri is taking place from now till 8 October 2024.

It’s been a while since we’ve had a Japanese fair. The most recent editions were in June: Isetan Hanabi Matsuri at Waterway Point and Takashimaya Food Fiesta in Orchard.
The ongoing Isetan Tsukimi Matsuri in Tampines sees over 20 vendors selling a wide range of Japanese eats, including hot food, snacks, desserts, and beverages.
Start your experience at Feal, a popular pie shop from Japan. Their Earl Grey Apple Pie ($7.50) is a must-try; you get tart and sweet apples in a buttery pie crust, paired with a rich cream cheese filling that’s spiked with actual Earl Grey tea leaves. Jonathan apples from Japan, also known as Kogyoku apples, are used for their honey-like sweetness and fragrance.
Served warm, the palm-sized treat is great for snacking on the go.
The Butter Manju pancakes from Hokuyu are equally popular. Made with premium Hokkaido wheat, these mini pancakes come in two flavours: Red Bean and Custard Cream.
We preferred the latter, as the custard was uber smooth and not too sweet.
You can get them at $1.60 each or $15 for 10 pieces.
Alternatively, go for the Tsukimi Daifuku Taiyaki ($6) by Amane. You get a whole daifuku in the middle, encased by a traditional fish-shaped pancake.
While the pancake was crispy, it was a tad stale. We felt that the daifuku was best enjoyed on its own, with its chewy mochi and sweet red bean paste.
Cut through all the sweetness with a Tsukimi Yo Chan Unagi Bento ($17/$25)Â from Tsukiji Unagi Shokudo, a popular eel restaurant in Japan.
We opted for the full size, which came with two sizeable slabs of grilled eel atop short-grain rice, pickles, and an onsen egg. Do note that there’s a limit of 30 bento boxes per day, so act fast before it’s too late!
If you’re a fan of the warabimochi-infused drinks from Warabimochi Kamakura, Hourando has a rendition. Their Warabi Mochi Drink ($8.50) stars chewy warabimochi bits at the bottom, layered with matcha latte, brown sugar syrup, and whipped cream.
We loved the QQ mochi bits in the drink but wished the matcha latte was stronger and less milky.
These are just some of the highlights at the Isetan Tsukimi Matsuri fair; we also spotted fresh takoyaki, fried croquettes, Wagyu skewers and more here. Head down to the fair at Level 1 of Tampines Mall before 8 October!
