Jenjudan joins the BBT scene on 23rd March at CityLink Mall
Jenjudan is one of Taiwan’s most popular bubble tea purveyors. Renowned for their heavenly brown sugar pearls which are prepared fresh every two hours, their immense popularity has spawned 29 outlets worldwide.
From 11am on March 23rd, it’s our turn to get in on the action, as this famous chain dips its toes into Singaporean waters for the first time at CityLink Mall, near City Hall and Esplanade MRT Stations. You’ll be able to find it at the stretch right in front of Sushi Express.
Singaporeans keen to recreate fond memories of sipping on Brown Sugar Boba Milk ($5.20 for medium, $6.50 for large) in Taiwan can now do that right in the heart of Raffles Place. One of Shilin Market’s most popular drink stalls, Jenjudan is no stranger to fans of brown sugar bubble milk – AKA the latest food trend in Singapore. Brown sugar bubble milk has been all the rage on our shores recently, with hoards of fans getting their fixes everywhere from LiHo to Tiger Sugar. With brown sugar specialist Jenjudan making its long-awaited landing, the competition is only getting fiercer.
This bubble tea powerhouse attributes its success to the painstaking effort it takes to craft each batch of brown sugar pearls. They’re trying to replicate that success in Singapore, with virtually all their ingredients getting shipped in from Taiwan. Instead of buying brown sugar syrup off the shelves, they caramelise their brown sugar in-house, creating a mixture with deep, luscious flavour rather than a simple sugar rush.
A new batch of pearls is steeped and cooked in their brown sugar mixture every two hours to maintain freshness and quality. That effort results in a consistent standard of pearls that are bursting with flavour and bear a luxuriously chewy mouthfeel.
Apart from their signature brown sugar-laced drink, Oreo Brown Sugar Milk ($5.90) is a sumptuous beverage perfect for a cheat day treat, while Brown Sugar Boba Thai Milk Tea ($5.20 for medium, $6.50 for large) adds South-East Asian flair to their menu. Keep your eyes peeled for a rotation of limited edition drinks made with seasonal ingredients such as taro!
Singaporeans, myself included, have a seemingly insatiable appetite when it comes to bubble tea, and Jenjudan is yet another welcomed addition to the bevy of options already available here.
