Ah Kiat Frozen Food, a food supplier at Bedok North Fengshan Market that’s known for their otah buns and fresh yong tau foo items, have added a new eye-catching item to their menu—Mahjong Mooncakes. They are now taking pre-orders for these novelty mooncakes, which will be available for collection from 25 July till Mid-Autumn Festival, which falls on 21 September this year.

Unlike traditional mooncakes, these tiles are filled with unconventional flavours that will definitely draw a crowd. Their first set, 3D Big Three Scholars Mahjong Mooncakes, consists of 16 tiles, and has an assortment of five flavours—honeydew, sweet potato, red bean, green tea, and pandan bean paste. They are neatly packed in a golden casing to replicate real mahjong tiles. These intricate, handmade snow skin mooncakes are only priced at $26 per box.

If this set isn’t enough to impress your mahjong kakis, you can go for their limited edition, Golden Thirteen Wonders Mahjong Mooncakes ($28). This 16-tile mooncake set comes with the same assortment of fillings, but stands out with their unique, flavoured snow skin exteriors. Here, the snow skin comes flavoured with pumpkin, sweet potato, green tea, and charcoal, dusted with edible gold powder for that extra huat.

Order your Mahjong Mooncakes now through Ah Kiat Frozen Food’s Facebook page. You can place your orders now, for collection closer to 21 September to ensure the freshness of your mooncakes.

Apart from these mooncakes, Ah Kiat Frozen Food also handmakes a variety of fresh yong tau foo daily. With prices starting at $0.80 a pair, these include lady’s finger, mushroom, tau kwa and more, that you can add on to your mahjong mooncake order!
