Fans of Maji Curry, we’ve got good news for you. After the opening of its first Singapore outpost in Novena in 2022, the reknowned Japanese curry rice brand is opening its second local eatery, this time in Funan. Its doors officially open on 9 March 2025.

For the uninitiated, Maji Curry made waves in Japan by winning the 2018 Kanda Curry Grand Prix. Since then, the brand has expanded beyond Japan, making its way to countries such as the USA and Thailand before finally arriving in Singapore two years ago.

If you’re checking out the new outlet, be sure to try the Hamburger Steak Cheese Sauce Curry Rice (from $14.30++), which is the dish that earned Maji Curry the Kanda Curry Grand Prix. Here, rich cheese fondue is poured over the curry rice and juicy hamburger steak, making each bite rich and flavourful, with a good sweet-to-spicy balance.

There’s also the Tonkatsu Omelette Curry (from $14.50++). This rendition features an omelette that’s made fluffy and creamy, complementing the curry rice perfectly. Of course, it features those classic pork cutlets that always goes well with curry rice.

Maji Curry has a fun range of other toppings for your curry rice, including Fried Prawn Curry Rice ($12.50++), Cream Croquette Curry Rice ($11.50++), and Beef Shabu Curry Rice ($12.50++).

We hear that for every plate of curry rice sold, Maji Curry donates 10 cents to The Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund. If that, plus the delectable curry rice, sound appealing, do drop by this Sunday onwards to check out this new Funan eatery!
