Wake up babe, new McDonald’s burgers are dropping soon! Come 28 December 2023, the iconic fast food chain is launching the Sweet ‘N Sour Fish Burger (from $7.70) and Sweet ‘N Sour Chicken Burger (from $7), said to be inspired by the popular local dish of the same name. These burger items will be available for a limited time only, while stocks last.
Fans of goloyok AKA gu lao rou or other similar dishes may find much to love with this new flavour profile that McDonald’s is soon to release. The crispy and tangy notes of these burgers come from the use of a sweet and sour sauce, pineapple, and crispy shallots.

McDonald’s Sweet ‘N Sour Fish Burger features those aforementioned ingredients, with two soft and crispy fish patties featuring at the centre of the burger. These should be the same patties used in the classic Filet-O-Fish, so those who are partial towards that burger will be right at home with this new rendition.

The Sweet ‘N Sour Chicken Burger, meanwhile, swaps the fish patties with a crispy chicken patty, and features sesame-topped buns.
The launch of the Sweet ‘N Sour burgers also marks the return of the Ha! Chicken Drumlets (from $3.40), which are inspired by the local dish har cheong gai. Its use of prawn paste adds a pungent, savoury goodness to the chicken drumlets that McDonald’s is known for.

There is also a new drink on the menu: the Pineapple Coconut Frappe (from $4.70). This drink is a great choice if you want to double down on the tangy goodness that you’re likely to get with the Sweet ‘N Sour burgers.
