Meeting You is a new Chinese dessert cafe in Tanjong Pagar
When I first heard about being assigned to visit a dessert cafe, I have to admit that I was pretty stoked to try everything on their menu. I’m probably not the only one who feels this way about desserts, especially with the recent wave of traditional Chinese desserts popping up one after another in recent months. The latest to join the lineup this July 2025 is Meeting You, a humble cafe located at Tanjong Pagar Plaza.
So, without further ado, here is my honest review of this newly opened dessert cafe.
Food at Meeting You
Here you can find a wide range of traditional and modern desserts in hot and cold versions.
We kicked things off with one of their bestsellers—the Green Water Ghost Pistachio Paste ($7.80). This hot dessert came in a small bowl, filled with a thick, creamy pistachio paste that was nutty and comforting, though surprisingly not very sweet. A sprinkle of crushed pistachios on top added a nice crunch, but we found ourselves wishing there was a bit more for textural contrast.
Unlike the one we had at Yuen Yeung, though, Meeting You’s version was thicker in consistency, which made it a tad cloying for us, especially since the paste-to-nut ratio was pretty high.Â

As for its taste, there wasn’t much we could shout out about, as the flavour was rather one-dimensional. Perhaps some roasted pistachio bits or even a dash of sea salt could’ve helped zhng it up.
That said, if you’re the type who prefers desserts on the less-sweet, guilt-free side, this might be right up your alley.
For cold desserts, we started with the Thick Matcha Taro Pudding Double Skin Milk Tofu ($6.80). This dessert came with their house-made beancurd as a base, layered with creamy orh nee, and finished with a drizzle of rich matcha sauce.
Among all the desserts we tried, this one was the least sweet, with the orh nee paste relying on the natural sugars of the taro itself, while the beancurd reminded us of traditional tau huay, just without the usual sugar syrup.
As self-declared sweet tooths, this one didn’t quite hit the spot for us. But if you’re an orh nee lover or prefer desserts on the more natural-tasting side, this could be worth a shot.
Next, we tried the Classic Pomelo Sago ($6.80), which is their take on the familiar mango sago dessert—but with a twist. Instead of fresh milk, this version uses fragrant coconut milk.
It comes with a few pieces of sago balls, fresh mango cubes, and a light drizzle of coconut milk. We barely tasted any pomelo peels in the dessert, and there was nothing much to shout about overall. Perhaps a few pieces of nata de coco and a more generous serving of mango cubes might have made it more memorable.
It was thick in consistency, too, likely from a high amount of condensed milk in the mix. Similar to other desserts we had during our visit, it was toned down in terms of sweetness. In this case, it was a bit too watered down for our liking.
We also gave their Fresh Milk Grand Slam ($8.50) a go—a classic you’ll spot at many traditional Chinese dessert joints.
This bowl came packed with familiar favourites: grass jelly, peach gum, lotus seeds, red bean, and chewy taro balls, served alongside a small cup of fresh milk for added creaminess.
At first blush, the bowl looked a tad underwhelming, as the dessert only filled up to half of the large bowl we were served. But after digging in, we were pleasantly surprised by how generous they were with the toppings. So don’t let first impressions fool you, because there’s quite a bit going on beneath the surface.
Again, this dessert leans on the healthier end, but if you have a sweet tooth, worry not, as you can opt to add extra sugar to your liking.
On a hot day, you can go for the Avocado Jelly Milk Ice ($8.50) or the Mango Black Rice Snow Ice ($7.90) instead, the latter comprising fresh mango cubes, black glutinous rice, vanilla ice cream, and shaved ice as its base.
Ambience at Meeting You
Meeting You is a small 25-seater cafe. It’s housed on the first level of Tanjong Pagar Plaza, which is a convenient location for those dining in town. The space is adorned with grey, black, and white furniture, accented by warm lighting that adds to its hipster, art gallery vibes. It was relatively quiet during our visit, likely because they had only just opened about a week or two ago at the time of writing.Â
For easy access, Meeting you is a short five-minute walk from Tanjong Pagar MRT Station.Â
Meeting You – Eatbook review
Prices at Meeting You lean towards the higher end, with most desserts hovering around the $7 to $9 mark. For what we paid, we felt that some items didn’t quite hit the mark in terms of flavour or portion size, especially when compared to similar spots such as Yuen Yeung, where the flavours felt a tad richer and satisfying.
That said, the cafe does have its appeal. If you’re a fan of pistachio, matcha, or orh nee, it might still be worth checking out just to see if their take suits your palate. We also appreciate that most of their offerings are on the lighter, less-sweet side, which could be a plus for those who prefer a guilt-free treat.
