Delicious Korean fare doesn’t always come cheap, so when I heard of MIMI Korean BBQ Restaurant’s K-BBQ buffet that’s priced from just $29.50+ per person, it sounded almost too good to be true.
Located on Peck Seah Street, an easy three-minute walk from Tanjong Pagar MRT Station Exit A, the Korean-run restaurant offers a wide variety of classic dishes for sharing, including hearty stews and meaty barbecue platters.
Regulars flock to the restaurant for their BBQ buffet, well-priced at $29.50+ per adult or $19.50+ per child on Mondays to Thursdays. If you’re visiting on other days, it’s still at an affordable $34.50+ per person, or $24.50+ per child.Â
You get to choose from seven types of meats, all of which you get unlimited servings of. Select from Beef Bulgogi, Beef Short Plate, Marinated Pork Galbi, Spicy Pork Bulgogi, Pork Belly, Soya Chicken Galbi, and Spicy Chicken Galbi. Top up $5+ for adlditional cheese for the ultimate barbecue experience!
The buffet comes with six banchan AKA Korean side dishes too, so you can fill up without breaking the bank.Â
Complete your feast with MIMI’s signature platters for sharing, including the Steamed Seafood with Cypress Steamer ($104+) and Steamed Beef and Veggie with Cypress Steamer and Noodle ($64+). Alternatively, go for the Jeonju Volcano Galbi ($59+), an impressive meat tower that’s chock full of beef slices and beansprouts.
Don’t forget to get a serving of Bossam ($42+) as well; this classic Korean-style boiled pork is served with fresh veggies and kimchi for a satisfying bite.Â
Otherwise, a side of Jokbal ($40+), AKA Korean-style braised pig trotters, will satisfy your meat cravings with its chewy texture and savoury flavour.Â
A little known fact, however, is that the homely resto also serves up a value-for-money set lunch from Mondays to Fridays, 11:30am to 3pm.Â
Priced at $15+, each set entitles you to a main dish, rice, and soup of the day, along with a whopping total of six banchan AKA Korean side dishes. For mains, you can choose from a wide selection of beef, pork, chicken, and Korean fish options.
Highlights include grilled-to-order Spicy Stir Fried Pork or Spicy Chicken Galbi, prepared with a Korean pepper-infused marinade, as well as the oh-so-popular Beef Bulgogi for thin, melt-in-the-mouth strips of beef marinated in a sweet and savoury sauce.
Those who love seafood can also pick from three new fish items for their main instead of the aforementioned meat items. There’s the Braised Mackerel, Fried Mackerel, and Golden Croacker, all priced at a value-for-money $15+ with the same fixings: six types of banchan, rice, and soup.
If you want more privacy, the restaurant has five private rooms that’ll suit celebrations and gatherings of all sorts. For group bookings, enquire via WhatsApp to 9114 9510.
And if you’re feeling lazy, there’s good news: the restaurant is available for islandwide delivery on GrabFood, so you can sit back, relax, and enjoy legit Korean grub without lifting a finger.Â
Those who prefer ordering directly can also do so via WhatsApp to 9114 9510, and enjoy free items with your purchase. For instance, spend over $100 to get two free canned drinks, or spend over $200 for a free pancake and steamed egg.
